3307. Frances E. ECKARD was born on 19 September 1917 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. She died on 8 September 2008 at the age of 90 in Pallative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: Frances E. McRee of 208 1st Ave. N., Conover, died at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 91. She was born in Charlotte, NC on September 19, 1917 to Robert Leroy and Mary Pansy Eckard and will be remembered by her glowing smile and friendly nature to many. Frances was Grade Mother to many children at Conover Elementary School and Concordia Christian Day School. Her church and family were foremost her entire life. She held offices in the Ladies Aid at Concordia and was a Sunday School teacher, and was also involved in many church activities. Frances was cashier for her father-in-law, R.L. McRee, at his grocery store on main street Conover, manager of Conover Dept. Store and manager of T-Mart Dept. Store. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Elmer McRee and a brother, Robert L. Eckard, Jr. of Kitty Hawk, NC. Survivors include a son, Robert E. McRee, Jr. and wife Shirley of Statesville; a daughter, Judy M. Harman and husband Fred of Maiden; grandchildren, Jean Martinez, Nancy Hipp, Susan Edwards and husband Jackie, Karen Davis and husband Randy, and Jill Smith and husband Brian; 13 great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Wilkinson; Bryan, Ben and Emily Davis; Conner Smith; Nicole and Alex Rabon; Michael Mangual; and Wesley, Ashley, Hayley, Bradley and Dylan Martinez. Pallbearers will be Tim McRee, Dr. Dale Spencer, Alan Spencer, Harvey Travis, David Isenhower, Clarence Canrobert. Honorary pallbearers are Stine Isenhower and Jim Isenhower. A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2008 at Concordia Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Kane officiating. Interment will follow in Conover City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Concordia Christian Day School, 215 5th Ave. SE., Conover, NC 28613 or to Concordia Lutheran Church, 216 5th Ave. SE, Conover, NC 28613. Frances E. ECKARD and Robert Elmer MCREE were married on 18 September 1936.¹²²⁴ Robert Elmer MCREE, son of Robert Luther MCREE and Lottie Leona YOUNT, was born on 22 August 1915.¹²²⁴ He died on 19 March 1996 at the age of 80 in Claremont, Catawba County, North Carolina.
