4591. George Franklin DAGENHART was born on 16 November 1928 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 21 August 2012 at the age of 83 in Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: CATAWBA George Dagenhart, 83, of Catawba, went home to be with the Lord after a brief illness Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born Nov. 16, 1928, he was the son of the late Frank Joe and Maggie Moss Dagenhart. George served our county in the Navy during the Korean War. He was self-employed for more than 60 years as a farmer, logger, and owner of a pallet company. He was also an avid gardener, who graciously fed the community. George loved deep-sea fishing and spending time with his family. He was a life-long member of Hopewell United Methodist Church in Sherrills Ford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Holbrook Dagenhart; his sister, Elizabeth Travis; and his infant brother, Nasby Ray Dagenhart. George is survived by his wife, Patricia Edwards Dagenhart; son, Wayne Dagenhart and wife, Marlen; daughter, Jamie Brumley and husband, Anthony; son, Michael Dagenhart and wife, Lorna, all of Catawba. Grandchildren include Britney Miller and husband, Jason, of Claremont, Justin Dagenhart and wife, Kqisha, of Maiden, Kensley Brum-ley, Christopher Brum-ley, Gabriela Dagenhart, and Jason Dagenhart, all of Catawba; one great-grandchild, Maggie Miller, of Claremont; sisters, Avis Sessoms and Darlene King, of Charlotte, Nadine Holbrook, of Sherrills Ford and Carolyn Deal of Newton. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at Hopewell United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Tam Wensil and Bob Roten officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Drum Funeral Home in Conover.
