166. James W. TRAFFANSTEDT
(1) was born on 14 Oct 1841 in Alabama
DeKalb Co.. He died on 15 May 1916. He was buried in Red Hill Cemetery, DeKalb
Co., AL. Notes by Mary Jo Traffanstedt Nance:
James joined the Confederate Army and was wounded in the Civil War. His back
was broken. He had been a cripple caused from this wound. He received a pension
from the military.
The grandson of James, Bill Traffanstedt from Collinsville, told me a great deal
about his branch of the family before his death. He said that Joseph and his
family brought a fiddle with them from Germany and that it had been passed down
to other family members. Bill's father, Robert, played it and passed it on to
Bill who gave it to one of his daughters.
