9. John WILSON ⁽⁵⁾ was born about 1783 in Lincoln (Catawba) Co., North Carolina. He signed a will on 14 Nov 1865 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died about 1867. He had an estate probated in Aug 1867 in Catawba County, North Carolina. !SOURCE: Will of father Mathew Wilson

He was in the Revolutionary War, fighting in the battle of King's Mountain. He was granted 500 acres of land on both sides of the north fork of the Catawba River, 21 Nov 1786. His tax listing in 1819 (Capt. Daniel Hoke's District) was: land of 150 acres, value of $230.

He was married to Eleanor "Nelly" STACY on 4 May 1819 in Lincoln (Catawba) Co., North Carolina. ⁽⁸⁾ Matther Wilson (father) was bondsman, Vardry McBee was witness (JP). Eleanor "Nelly" STACY was born about 1798. John WILSON and Eleanor "Nelly" STACY had the following children:
