Brookside Cemetery is in Fayetteville at GPS Coordinates: 35.0566, –78.8726.  It is on Lamon Street just east of Cross Creek 
Cemetery #2 and just before the Cumberland County Parks & Rec at 280 Lamon Street.
 
There are at lease 748 burials at Brookside Cemetery and they are all documented on Find A Grave.  There are potentially 31 
more, but I am waiting on a reply from the Cemetery Supervisor.

Here is a description of Brookside Cemetery that I wrote and is now on Find A Grave:
 
Brookside Cemetery is an African American cemetery in the city of Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina. The entrance 
is on Lamon Street. Brookside Cemetery and Cross Creek Cemetery #2 share a border that is only marked with a few white PVC pipes, 
which replaced the original wooden delineation markers.

The exact date that Brookside Cemetery was established is unknown. The earliest recorded burial is from 1880 and the earliest 
deed for the property is dated 1892 and was granted to the Trustees of Brookside Cemetery. In 1907, this deed was transferred 
to F. D. Williston, Trustee.

In 1953 the City of Fayetteville took over the management of six cemeteries: Cross Creek Cemeteries 1, 2, & 3, Northside Cemetery,
Old Mile Branch Cemetery, and Brookside Cemetery. There are currently over 740 burials in Brookside Cemetery to include some notable 
families and individuals such as Ezekiel Ezra Smith, for which E.E. Smith High School is named; the Chesnutt family; several founders 
of Fayetteville State University (originally the Howard School): David Bryant, Andrew J Chesnutt, and Matthew Leary; Robert Harris, 
first principal of the Howard School; Anne Chesnutt–Waddell, Cumberland County Supervisor of Schools; James W Hood, Bishop and Assemblyman; 
Dr. Paul N Melchor; Dr. William P Devane, who was also a councilman; and many others.

Upon further investigation, you will see a rich history of educators, business owners, lawyers, clergy, politicians, and persons 
significant to the social history of Fayetteville.
