JOHN McKETHAN FAMILY CEMETERY
Located about 2 1/2 miles southwest of Godwin in Black River Township
of Cumberland County. From U.S. Route 301, northeast 1.55 miles on S.R.
1802 (Sis Culbreth Road) to the home of L.W. Thornton; northwest 0.44 miles
on the farm opposite his home to the edge of the woods, thence northeast
along the edge of the woods about 150 yards. Maintained. Last recorded
burial 1843. All stones were removed to the Old Bluff Presbyterian Church
in 1986.
Erected by Margret McKethan in Memory of her husband John McKethan
who died Febry 24, 1817. Age 71 ys (Blank footstone) (John McKethan
(Sr.) "Blind John", married first Grissella McAllister, married
second Margaret Campbell. Stone moved from the John McKethan Family Cemetery.)
In Memory of Margaret McKethan who departed this life April 17th,
1841 Aged 79 years & 3 mos. (Footstone inscribed "M. McK")
(Margaret Campbell, second wife of John McKethan (Sr.) Stone moved from
the John McKethan Family Cemetery. )
In Memory of Neill McKethan who departed this life Novr 27th, 1836
Aged 46 Years & 8 Mos. (Footstone inscribed "N. McK")( Son
of John McKethan (Sr.) and Margaret Campbell. Stone moved from the John
McKethan Family Cemetery.)
In Memory of Dugald McKethan who departed this life Decr 4th, 1836
Aged 33 years & 8 Mos. 3
Footstone inscribed "F.A. McK".
In Memory of Nathan King McKethan son of James & Flora A. McKethan
who departed this life July 27th, 1843 Aged 12 Years & 8 Mos.
Erected by Archd Cameron in memory of his son Allen Cameron who died
August 9, 1822, Aged 8 years. (Tombstone is broken)
Erected by Archd Cameron in memory of his son John Archibald Cameron
who died August 14, 1822, Aged 6 years. (Tombstone is broken)
A broken, unreadable tombstone with no base to indicate its proper
location.
Above stones along with one additional semiburied stone moved to Bluff
Presbyterian Church in 1986.
