Cumberland County Sheriff's Department about 1919. The man who
is top left w/moustache is my gr grandfather, William Garrison "Billy" Moore. He was shot and killed
in the line of duty in May of 1920, in Fayetteville. Herman Butler, deputy sheriff of Cumberland County was
killed the same time. He is the officer seated in front row with the hat in front of him. William G. "Billy"
Moore and Herman Butler had their names added to the NCLEOM MEMORIAL in 2002 in Washington, DC. This is the
memorial to Law Enforcement Officers who lost their lives in the line of duty memorial in Washington DC.
This picture hung in the stationhouse in Fayetteville for many years, might still be hanging there, but I doubt it!
(If you can identify any of the other men, please Myrtle.)
