ROBESONIAN - October 6, 1913 Issue
Contact: Myrtle Bridges

In 1770 Gilbert and Christian McMillan emigrated from Cantyre, Scotland and settled in Bladen county near Brown Marsh.
Afterward they moved up in the vicinity of Millprong, which was then in Bladen county. Here in 1772 Gilbert, the husband,
died and left the rearing of his family to his wife, Christian. The family consisted of one son and seven daughters.

They afterward married as follows:
Archibald McMillan married Miss McArthur and was the father of Duncan and Florida, John McMillan and their sister Christian,
who married Alex. McNeill.

Effie McMillan married John Gilchrist
Barbara McMillan married Ar--- McAllister
Mary McMillan married Archibald Sellers
Flora McMillan (m.) Daniel McKay
Margaret McMillan (m.) Taylor and after his death T. McEwen
Christian McMillan (m.) Samuel Brown

I have never been able to locate the 7th McMillan daughter.

The mother Christian McMillan died in 1811.

The inscription on Gilbert and Christian McMillan's tomb stone is nearly obliterated, and the object of this sketch is to
try to stir up an interest among their descendants to erect a memorial to their memory. A very small sum from each would
accomplish this purpose. Judge McNeill and Gilbert Patterson have designated from their numerous descendants to collect
such sums and erect the monument. They lie buried in the old McEachern cemetery near Millprong, now in Hoke county.
D.P. McEachern, Red Springs.
