JESSE CARROLL to JOHN DICKERSON- 1787

This Indenture made the 5th day of October in the Year of Our Lord
One Thousand Seven Hundred & Eighty Seven between JESSE CARROLL of
the County of Granvill & province of North Carolina of the one part
& JOHN DICKERSON Esq'r of the County of Granville & province
aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the s'd JOHN DICKERSON
for & in consideration of the sum of One Hundred & Eighty pounds CM
by him the s'd JOHN DICKERSON to him the s'd JESSE CARROLL in hand
paid before the sealing & delivery hereof the rec't whereof the s'd
JESSE CARROLL doth hereby acknowledge & thereof doth acquit &
discharge the s'd JOHN DICKERSON his heirs Ex'rs & adm'rs hath
bargained & sold & by these presents doth grant bargain sell enfeoff
of & confirm unto the s'd JOH DICKERSON his heirs & assigns one
sertain tract or parcell of land lying & being in Granville County &
province aforesaid on the Beaverdam Creek & containing by estimation
Two hundred & forty acres be the same more or less & bounded as
follows, to wit, Begining at a hickory on JAMES WALKER's line runing
east to a corner pine thence runing South at a corner black jack
thence runing west at a corner black jack thence runing North to the
first station it being a tract of land granted from JESSE CARROLL to
JOHN DICKERSON & the reversion & reversions remainder & remainders
rents & profits thereofwith the appurtenances To have & to hold the
s'd tract or parcel of land unto the s'd JOHN DICKERSON his heirs &
assigns to the only use & behoof of the s'd JOHN DICKERSON his heirs
and assigns forever & the s'd JESSE CARROLL his heirs &c the s'd
Messerage plantation or tract of land with the appurtenance unto him
the s'd JOHN DICKERSON his heirs & assigns shall & will warrant &
forever defend by these presents against the claim or demand of him
the s'd JOHN DICKERSON his heirs or assigns or any other person or
persons whatsoever committed done or suffered shall or lawfully may
forever hereafter have hold use occupy possess enjoy the same &
every part thereof with the appurtenances without the lawful let
molestation or eviction of himself the s'd JESSE CARROLL his heirs
or assigns or any other person whatsoever. In witness whereof the
s'd JESSE CARROLL hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the
day & year first above written.

PHILLIP CHAVIS to MAJOR EVANS-1780
Deed Book O, Pages 84-85
This Indenture made the 16th day of February in the Year 1780
Between PHILLIP CHAVIS of Bladen County in the State of North
Carolina of the one part & MAGER EVANS of Granville County in the
state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that I the sd PHIL
CHAVIS for & in consideration of One Hundred pounds current money to
him in hand paid at the sealing & delivery of these presents in
rec't whereof the sd PHILL doth hereby acknowledge hath granted
bargained & sold aliened enfeoffed released confirmed & by these
presents doth grant bargain & sell alien enfeoff release & confirm
unto the MAGER EVANS his heirs & assigns one certain tract dividend
or parcel of land lying & being in the sd County of Granville near
Buffelow Race path beginning on his own line at a Spanish oak
running his line east One Hundred & Four poles to a red oak on
HAMILTONs line then his line South One Hundred & Twenty Eight poles
to a black jack on SNELLINGS line then his line west one Hundred &
ten poles to a black jack then North to the first station Containing
One Hundred acres also all the reversions remainder & remainders
rents services thereof & also the estate right title interest
property claim & demand whatsoever of him the sd PHILL CHAVIS of in
& to the sd land & premises & of in to every part & parcel thereof.
To have & to hold the sd tract of land & premises with the
appurtenances unto the sd MAGER EVANS his heirs & assigns to the
only proper use & behoof of the sd MAGER EVANS his heirs & assigns
forever & the sd PHILL CHAVIS for himself & his heirs doth covenant
& grant to & with the sd MAGER EVANS that he the sd PHILL CHAVIS the
sd seat tract or parcel of land & premises & the appurtenances unto
the sd MAGER EVANS his heirs & assigns will warrant & forever defend
by these presents. In witness whereof the sd PHILL CHAVIS have
hereunto set hand & affixed his seal the day & Year first above
written.

JAMES CHAVIS to THOMAS EVANS-1794
Deed Book P, Pages 90-91
This Indenture made the Sixth day of August in the Year of Our Lord
one thousand Seven hundred & Ninety four between JAMES CHAVIS of the
County of Granville & State of No. Carolina of the one part & THOMAS
EVANS of the County of Mecklenburg, Virginia of the other part
Witnesseth that the sd JAMES CHAVIS for & in consideration of the
sum of Eight pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by
the sd THOMAS EVANS before the ensealing & delivery of these
presents the rec't whereof the sd JAMES CHAVIS doth hereby
acknowledge hath granted bargained & sold aliened enfeoffed released
& confirmed & by these presents doth grant bargain & sell alien
enfeoff release & confirm unto the sd THOMAS EVANS one certain
tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of
Granville aforesaid on the waters of Grassy Creek beginning at a
corner white oak on a branch near WM AMIS fence runing thence East
forty poles to a corner maple on the sd branch thence up the
meanders of the sd branch to a marked white oak near the head of the
sd branch then South one hundred & Eighty two poles to a pine in
SMITH's line then West one hundred & ninety six poles the corner
uncertain then North One hundred & Twenty poles to a poplar in a
branch then east one hundred & twelve poles to a corner pine then
North to the first Station, containing by estimation Two hundred &
twenty acres more or less together with the reversion & reversions
remainder & remainders rents issues & profits thereof & also all the
estate right title interest property claim & demand whatsoever of
him the sd JAMES CHAVIS of in & to the sd land & premises &
assign(?) & to every part & parcel thereof To have & to hold the sd
land & premises unto the sd THOMAS EVANS his heirs & assigns to the
only proper use benefit & behoof of him the sd THOMAS EVANS his
heirs & assigns forever the sd JAMES CHAVIS for himself his heirs
Exrs & Adm'rs doth covenant & grant to & with the sd THOMAS EVANS
his heirs & assigns that he the sd JAMES CHAVIS his heirs &c the sd
land & premises unto the sd THOMAS EVANS his heirs & assigns shall &
will Warrant & forever defend against all & every person claiming or
to claim from by or under him or any other person or persons
whomsoever. In witness whereof the sd JAMES CHAVIS hath hereunto set
his hand & affixed his seal the day & year first above written.

SAMUEL CRAFT to WILLIAM EVANS- 1829
Deed Book 4, Page 244-245
This Indenry[sic] made this 30th day of December 1829 between SAMUEL
CRAFT of the County of Granville and the State of North Carolina of
the one part, and WILLIAM EVANS of the said County and State of the
other part, Witnesseth that the said SAMUEL CRAFT for and in
consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to him in hand paid
by the said WILLIAM EVANS the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledge
have granted bargained sold confirmed & convaiid[sic] unto the said
WILLIAM EVANS his heirs &c a sertain[sic] part of the track of land
that SAMUEL CRAFT pershed[sic] of JOHN JOHNSON situated in said
County on the waters of Cattail Creek, beginning at WILLIAM EVANS
corner pine thence SAMUEL CRAFT line to a rock on Providence road,
thence down the road to Sowerwood corner thence north to a corner
hickory on WILLIAM EVANS line thence to the beginning corner pine
twenty five acres more or less to have & to hold the aforesaid
bargain land & premises with all the apertainis[sic] and every thing
in anywise belonging or appurtaining thereunto unto the said WILLIAM
EVANS his heirs & exrs. and the said SAMUEL CRAFT doth for himself
his heirs & warrant and forever defend the title of the afors'd land
and premises unto the said WILLIAM EVANS his heirs & assigns forever
&c free and clear from himself his heirs & and all persons having
any lawful thereto In testimony whereof the said SAMUEL CRAFT hath
herunto set his hand & affixed his seal the day & date above
ritten[sic].

ANSON CRITCHER to WILLIAM EVANS-1840
Deed Book 10, Pages 332-333
This Indenture made this 25th day of November in the year of Our
Lord 1840 between ANSON CRITCHER of the County of Granville state of
North Carolina of the one part, and WILLIAM EVANS of the County &
State aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth that for an in
consideration of the sum of one hundred and Eighty two dollars to
him the said ANSON CRITCHER in hand paid by the said WILLIAM EVANS
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said ANSON CRITCHER
hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant
bargain and sell to the said WILLIAM EVANS, as Trustee for WINEFRED
TYLER & the heirs of her body, a certain tract or parcel of land
lying and being in the County of Granville in the aforesaid state of
North Carolina on the waters of Cattail, adjoining the lands of
WILLIAM EVANS, ISAAC ANDERSON & others and bounded as follows, to
wit, Beginning at a pine WILLIAM EVANS and ISAAC ANDERSON's corner
running thence East 130 poles to a corner pine thence south 64 poles
to a corner stake & pointers, thence west 130 poles to a corner
stump & pointers WILLIAM EVANS corner, thence north to the beginning
containing Fifty two acres. To have and to hold the said tract or
parcel of land with the appertenances thereunto belonging to the
said WILLIAM EVANS Trustee for WINEFRED TYLER & the heirs of her
body his heirs or assigns forever And the said ANSON CRITCHER for
himself his heirs &c doth covenant and agree to and with the said
WILLIAM EVANS Trustee as aforesaid his hiers Exrs. Admrs. & that he
will forever warrant and defend the said tract or parcel of land to
the said WILLIAM EVANS Trustee for WINEFRED TYLER & the heirs of her
body to his heirs Exrs. Admrs. free from the claim of him his heirs
Exrs. Admrs. or assigns, also from the claim of any person or
persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said ANSON CRITCHER has
hereunto set his hand and seal the day and date first written.
