ELIAS PETTIFORD to BARNETT PULLIAM- 1788

This Indenture made the 19th day of January One Thousand Seven
Hundred & Eighty Eight between ELIAS PETTIFORD of the one part &
BARNET[sic] PULLIAM of the other part both of Granville County &
State of North Carolina Witnesseth that the s'd ELIAS PETTIFORD for
the consideration of the sum of forty pounds current money of this
State to him in hand paid by BARNETT PULLIAM at or before the
sealing & delivery of these presents the rec't whereof he the s'd
ELIAS PETTIFORD doth hereby acknowledged himself fully satisfied
hath granted bargained sold aleined enfeoff released confirmed & by
these presents grant bargain sell & confirm unto the s'd BARNET
PULLIAM afores'd his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or
parcel of land lying & being in the County of Granville and State of
North Carolina & on the waters of Tar River containing by estimation
One Hundred & Seven acres be the same more or less & bounded as
followeth, to wit, beginning at a hickory BASS corner in TAYLOR's
line, thence by BASS line East 90 pole to a white oak thence by his
line South 40 poles East 102 to a white oak thence by his line E.
110 pole to a black in MORE's line thence by his line No. 30 pole to
a white oak thence by his line W. 80 pole to a black oak thence by
his line No. 60 pole PARKER's corner tree thence by his line W. 180
pole to a black oak thence his line No. 54 pole to a white oak
thence by his line W. 70 to a black oak thence by TAYLOR line South
to the first station & also the reversion & reversions remainder &
remainders & also all the write title interest claim or demand of
him the s'd PETTIFORD & to the s'd premises to BARNETT PULLIAM his
heirs forever with the appurtenances therunto belonging & the s'd
PETTIFORD for himself his heirs &c and he the s'd PETTIFORD for
himself his heirs &c doth covenant & agree to & with the s'd PULLIAM
that he the s'd ELIAS PETTIFORD do warrant & will forever defend the
s'd tract of land & appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the s'd
PULLIAM his heirs & assigns forever will warrant & forever defend
the same land & premises forever. In witness I have hereunto set my
hand & seal this 19th day of January A.D. 1788.

LAWRENCE PETTIFORD to NATHAN BASS-1787

This Indenture made this Ninth day of October in the Year of Our
Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred & Eighty Seven between LAWRENCE
PETTIFORD of Granville County & State of North Carolina of the one
part & NATHAN BASS of the same County & State of the other part
Witnesseth that the sd LAWRENCE PETTIFORD for & in consideration of
the sum of Fifty pounds Virginia money to him in hand paid by the sd
NATHAN BASS the rec't whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath given
granted bargained & sold & by these presents doth give grant bargain
& sell unto the sd NATHAN BASS a certain tract or parcel of land
lying in Granville County on the waters of Fishing Creek adjoining
the lands of HUGH SNELLING, THOMAS NEWBY, COL. EDM'D TAYLOR & ELIJAH
PARRISH containing by estimation one Hundred & Seventy acres be it
the same more or less together with all the appurtenances aforesd
unto the sd NATHAN BASS his heirs & assigns forever & the sd
LAWRENCE PETTIFORD for himself & his heirs doth covenant & agree
with the sd NATHAN BASS his heirs & assigns the above One Hundred &
Seventy acres of land with the appurtenances unto the sd NATHAN BASS
his heirs & assigns against all persons whatsover will warrant &
forever defend. In witness whereof the sd LAWRENCE PETTIFORD hath
hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the day & year above
written.

Know all men by these presents that I ANNE PRYOR of the County of
Granville & province of North Carolina for and in consideration of
the sum of Eighty pounds Virginia currency to me in hand paid at &
before the Insealing & Delivery of these presents by HADEN PRYOR of
the County & province afores'd Have bargained, sold & delivered unto
the said HADEN PRYOR one Negro boy cald and known by the name of
AMOS & do hereby warrant the sale of the s'd Negro to the s'd
HADEN PRYOR his heirs & assigns from any person or persons
whatsoever saying any claim thereto or having any demand or title to
the said Negro. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand &
seal the 18th day of May 1772.
