Funeral services for William Benjamin Rogers Sr. 64, of Bethania will be held at Bethania Moravian Church at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Kenneth Robinson and Rev. Edgar Christman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Rogers died in a Winston-Salem hospital Friday night after a brief illness. A native of Granville County, NC, he was the son of the last William Thomas and Addie Laura Gibbs Rogers. He moved to Winston-Salem in 1962 after retiring from the U.S. Army after 30 years of service. Since his retirement he had been with Wake Forest University as a printer. He was a member of the Bethania Moravian Church, the church's board of elders, Sunday School superintendent and chief usher. Survivors are the widow, the former Margaret Shirley Starr, of the home, two daughters, Mrs. William C. (Carol) Hodge of Sumter, SC and Miss Sherlyn Belinda Rogers of Bethania; a son, William Benjamin Rogers Jr. of the home, a brother, Milton Thomas Rogers of Pineville, NC, two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Powell of Roanoke Rapids, NC, andMrs. Ruth Shivar of New Bern, NC. and one grandchild. Memorials may be made to the church. The body is at Vogler Reynolds Chapel in Winston-Salem and Vogler Funeral Home is in charge. |
