Granville Co., NC Richard Bennet: to wife Anne Bennett all estate, real and personal, after paying all my debts. At her death, a negroe to my son Thomas Bennett; to my daughter Sarah Estis, a negroe; to my daughter Frances Bush, a negroe; to my sons Micajah, William, Peter, Bartlett, Lewis Bennett, and my daughter Anna Duke, money from the sale of 3 negroes, excepting the rest of my estate divided to all except Peter and Lewis Bennett.

Will is dated May 5, 1825. Probated in the November Court 1825, Granville Co., NC Lewis Bennett wills the 970 acres whereon he lives on Tar River sold and the negroes he owns divided to his daughter Susan Kimbal, 1/3rd part; to Woodson, Dabney and Jonathan Knight, 1/3; also Alfred Knight together one share or 1/3rd; Jonathan Knight is father of others; 1/3rd to daughter Martha Bennett and her 3 children: Susan Bennett, Lewis Bennett, Polly Bennett, Martha Bennett; all else, including stock, etc., to be sold and money divided to heirs named above. Exrs: John Webb and Woodson Knight Petition regarding above will - August Court 1826, Granville Co., NC Woodson Knight, executor of Lewis Bennett, deceased, states that the will of testator, Thomas Yarbrough and Susan, his wife, Martha, Susan and Lewis and Polly Bennett, Jonathan, Woodson, Dabney and Abner Knight are entitled to have several slaves divided among them, 14 in number, and herein ask division made; to Thomas Yarbrough in right of wife Susan, Woodson, Dabney and Abner Knight, Martha, Susan and Lewis and Polly Bennett, Jonathan Knight who took no slaves but sold his to other heirs. |
