He was buried in Center Methodist Church Cemetery, Catawba County, North Carolina.

Leona Mae SIGMON was born on 12 July 1924 in Catawba County, North Carolina. She died on 6 April 2010 at the age of 85 in Abernethy Laurels, Newton, North Carolina. She was buried in Center Methodist Church Cemetery, Catawba County, North Carolina. Her obituary appeared as follows: CATAWBA - Leona Mae Sigmon Hollifield, 85, of Catawba, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Abernethy Laurels. She was born July 12, 1924, in Catawba County to the late Harry A. Sigmon and Bessie Jane Setzer Sigmon. Mrs. Hollifield was a member of Center United Methodist Church in Catawba. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Wilburn Hollifield; son, Terry D. Hollifield; granddaughter, Chrystal Shook; brothers, Vernon Sigmon, Floyd Sigmon and Robert Sigmon; and stepsister, Mary Millholland. Mrs. Hollifield is survived by her daughters, Mickey Shook and husband, Wayne, of Catawba, Karen Caldwell of Catawba, Nancy Thornburg of Statesville and Peggy Eades and her husband, Steven, of Catawba; grandchildren, Shannon Little, Wendy Wilkinson, Jessica Edwards, Stephanie Eades, Jason Eades and Holly Eades; great-grandchildren, Tatianna Cline, Hailey Cline, Justin Wilkinson, Brooke Wilkinson, Kynna Joyner and Jackson Little; sister, Flossie Sigmon of Catawba; stepsister, Margaret Rink of Conover; and stepbrothers, Kenneth Sigmon of Catawba and Pete Brown of Statesville. A service of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Center United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paula B. Northrup officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, April 9, 2010, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Center United Methodist Church. Pallbearers honoring Mrs. Hollifield are Bobby Putnam, Billy Putnam, Wayne Shook, Jason Eades, Steven Eades and Gary Potter.
