Hello Researchers,
Dottie and I made a tour of a part of Hertford and Bertie Counties today
looking for Hollomon cemeteries.
We covered the area from just below Winton over to Union and Frazier's Cross Roads
down to near Ahoskie, then went over into Bertie to where I thought I knew where some were.
The only one I could find was at the corner of Center Grove Road and Williford Road, The
cemetery is about 50 yards up Williford Road from Center Grove Road about one mile from
Powellsville. I believe originally this was a Burden Cmetery, but there were no Burden
stones that I could read. All but one grave had a stone slab, or a marker (Head Stone).
There were three unreadable slabs; 1 sunken grave; two unmarked; and one childs (unidentified).
Identified Graves were:
Earl J. Williams

I believe this was originally a Burden cemetery on land given to
James W. Burden in 1846 by deed of gift from Bryant Hollomon the
father of James W. Burden's wife Carolyn Lavenia.
