SHOCCO CHAPEL MISSIONARY BAPTIST
CHURCH CEMETERY |

Directions from Warrenton, turn onto Baltimore Road (NC-58) heading South for 8.6 miles; turn right on Sheriff Davis Road, go for 1.3 miles, passing Parktown Road, until you get to Lickskillet Road; continue onto Lickskillet Road for 0.5 miles, then make left turn onto Shocco Church Road for 0.3 miles. Shocco Chapel Church sits upon 3 acres of land in the Fork Township area of the County with a large, well kept cemetery surrounding it. The current Church building was built in 1975, but it is obvious the Church itself has been around for a long time since the Cemetery contains some of the oldest graves in the County. Only about half of them are marked, however, probably some of the older graves among those that are unmarked. Most of the people are buried in family groupings, the plots having been obtained many years before their burials. Some of the graves that had no dates, or listed only a partial date, I have inserted the info in parentheses ( ) having gathered the dates from death records. |
