This Indenture made this 20th day of Septr. A.D. One thousand Eight hundred and thirty between EZEKIEL CARROLL of the County of Warren && State of North Carolina of the one part & THOMAS J. JUDKINS of the County & State afos'd of the other part, Witnesseth that the sd EZEKIEL CARROLL for & in consideration of the sum of One Dollar to him in hand paid at and before the sealing & delivery of these presents by the sd THO'S J. JENKINS the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold & by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell and deliver to him the sd THOMAS J. JUDKINS the following Negroe Slaves, to wit, MARIA a Negro Woman aged about twenty six & her three children that is to say, MARY, aged about seven, EDENBOROUGH about four & HENRY about one & a half years, being the same except the last named Negro that I purchased of GABRIEL HARRISON. All of which Negroes above described & referred to the said EZEKIEL CARROLL for himself, his Heirs, Executors & Administrators will forever warrant & defend to him the s'd THOS J. JUDKINS, his Heirs, Exrs, Admrs & assigns, to have and to hold against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever. And it is hereby agreed & declared between the parties that the aforesaid Negroes is conveyed to THOMAS J. JUDKINS In Trust, Viz- That whereas JOHN E. HARRIS has become security for EZEKIEL CARROLL in the sum of three hundred dollars, for the payment of a debt which EDWARD DROMGOLE claims of sd CARROLL & now pending in the superior court of Law of Warren County, NC. Now in case the s'd HARRIS should be likely to suffer on account of being security as aforesaid & shall make same known to the s'd THOMAS J. JUDKINS then & in that case it shall & may be lawful for him the s'd JUDKINS his heirs or assigns to make sale of the afor'd Negro Slaves in any way or manner that he may think proper & the proceeds arising from such sale or a sufficiency thereof to be paid to the s'd JOHN E. HARRIS when ever he may have or be very likely to suffer on account of being security as afs'd together with all costs & charges that may accrue in the case or which may accrue in carrying this deed into effect & the overplus if any to returned to the sd EZEKIEL CARROLL or his Heirs. And if the above property should not be sold for a sufficiency to discharge the purposes of this Deed the aforesaid CARROLL or his Heirs, Exors. or Admrs. hereby obligated himself to pay & satisfy the same in some other way.
In witness wherefore the s'd EZEKIEL CARROLL & THO'S J. JUDKINS hat hereunto set their hands & seals the day & year first above written.

WASHINGTON CARTER to ROBERT CARTER- 1873

North Carolina, Warren County
Know all men by these presents, that I, WASHINGTON CARTER of the County & State above writing in consideration of two hundred dollars ($200) to me payed by ROBT CARTER of the same place have bargained sold and delivered and by these presents do bargain sell and deliver to the said ROBT CARTER the following goods and chattel to wit: three work oxen, milch cow and calf, two yearlings, all stock and all household and kitchen furniture, and all farming utensils.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 23 day of May 1873.

Know all men by these presents that I SARAH CHEEK of the County of Warren and State of North Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of two dollars to me in hand paid by TABITHA EVANS of the County and State aforesaid for due receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge have bargained and sold unto the sd TABITHA EVANS one man named SAM aged 55 years unto her the said TABITHA EVANS her heirs and assigns forever. In witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 14th day of February 1827.

SARAH CHEEK to TABBY EVANS- 1831

Know all men by these presents that I SALLY CHEEK for & in consideration of the sum of Twenty dollars to me in hand paid by TABBY EVANS the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold to her TABBY EVANS one Negro man SAM that is to say all the right title claim & interest which I now have or may ever hereafter have to the sd Negro SAM. The right and title of said Negro I do hereby warrant & defend to said TABBY EVANS to her & her heirs &c. However this Bill of Sale is to be void in case sd TABBY EVANS and all her family does not move out the neighborhood & not return. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 15th day of Oct 1831.

(Note: In 1830 Fishing Creek Twp., Tabby Evans was head of household of a family of  Free Persons of Color, aged 55 -99, with other members, 1 male child under 10, 1 male age 10-23, and 2 females age 10-23, plus 1 male slave age 55-99, which would be Sam. It's likely he was her husband, whom she had purchased in 1827, but for some reason a new deed was done at the higher price in 1831)

Received of WHARTON J. GREEN Seven Thousand and fifty Dollars in full payment for the purchase of Seven Slaves, names and valuations as follows:
ANNE and child TOMIE valued at $1000
GRANDISON valued at $1550
MALISSA valued at $1500
MARTHA ANN valued at $1500
ALICE valued at $1200
MATHEW valued at $400

The right and title to said slaves I warrant and defend against the claim or claims of any and all persons whatsoever, and likewise warrant the sound and healthy.
Given under my hand and seal the day and date above written.

THOMAS H. CHRISTMAS to WILLIAM GREEN- 1817

Know all men by these presents that I, Thomas H. Christmas, of the County of Warren and state of North Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen hundred dollars, to me in hand paid by William Green of said County have bargained, sold and delivered and by these presents do bargain, sell and deliver to said William Green a Negro woman named Bloe and her four children by the names of Moses, Rhody, Better and Susan, which Negroes are at present in the possession of William Campbell of Warrenton and I covenant to give the said Green possession of said Negroes to have to hold all and singular the said Negroes and their increases to said Green, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever and for the consideration upon said I bind myself, my heirs and assigns to give William Green full possession of all said Negroes on the first day of next January and it is expressly understood the title is said Green's from this time but that the Negroes are at my risk until delivered and I the said Thomas H. Christmas for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators and all and singular the said Negroes unto the said William Green, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns against the said Thomas H. Christmas and my executors, administrators and assigns and against all and every other person or persons whomsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 4th day of December 1817.

Know all men by these presents that I GEORGE CLANTON of Warren County & State of N. Carolina for and in consideration of Four Hundred and Twenty five dollars to me in hand paid by WM. C. CLANTON of the County and State aforesaid have bargained sold and delivered with the said WM. C. CLANTON one Negro man, JIM, the right & title of said Negro JIM, I do hereby warrant and forever defend unto the said WM. C. CLANTON his heirs & assigns forever against all persons whatsoever. In witness wehreof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this 7th Septr 1832.

MARTIN CONNELL to THOMAS CONNELL- 1885

This Indenture made and entered into 14 day of October A.D.1885, between MARTIN CONNELL of the first part and THOMAS CONNELL of the second part, all of the County of Warren and State of North Carolina.
Witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Five thousand dollars to him paid by the party of the second part the receipt thereof being hereby acknowledged have bargained, sold & conveyed and by the presents doth hereby bargain, sell land convey unto the party of the second part his heirs assigns executors & administrations forever the following property to wit, a tract of land in said Warren County on the waters of Maple Creek & Bank branch adjoining the legitees of A. D. ALSTON, THOS & MARTIN CONNELL, Beginning at the ALSTON sisters & CONNELL line on the George Alston Bridge road and running westwardly along said road crossing the Ransom Bridge road and extending west to a point so as to give a straight line southerly to W. H. ALSTON's mill pond to correspond with the mill road from the store to the old field in the same direction as the road now runs from the store to the woods, thence along said bank of pond to Maple Creek thence along said old run of maple to mouth of Buck branch thence up said branch on ALSTON's line to the place of beginning, containing six hundred acres more or less. And the said party of the first part doth hereby bind himself his heirs & assigns and administrators to warrant & defend the title to the same & all appertenances thereunto belonging against all lawful claims. In testimony whereof the said MARTIN CONNELL hereunto set his hand & seal the day & year first above written.
