WILLIAM DICKERSON to THOMAS CHRISTMAS-1768 |
This Indenture made this 8th day of August in the year of our Lord
one thousand seven hundred and sixty-eight by between William
Dickerson of the county of Bute in the province of North Carolina of
one part, and Thomas Christmas Jr., son of Thomas Christmas,
deceased, of the other part. Witnessed that the said William
Dickerson for and in consideration of the sum of forty pounds
current money of Virginia in hand paid by Thomas Christmas at or
before the ensealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof is
hereby acknowledged and the said William Dickerson he the said
Thomas Christmas doth hereby acquitted and discharge have granted,
bargained and sold released and confirmed and by these presents do
fully and absolutely grant, bargain, release and confirm unto the
said Thomas Christmas, son of Thomas, as aforesaid his heirs and
assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and
being in the county of Bute as aforesaid and on the north side of
Thomas Moore's Creek containing by estimation four hundred and forty
acres be the same more or less being the remaining part of a tract
of six hundred and eighty acres of land granted to the said William
Dickerson from Earl Granville bearing date the 6th day of February
1762 after taking two hundred and forty acres having formerly deed
to William Moore beginning on the said creek from William Moore’s
lying and adjoining of the upper end of the said tract running north
to the corner of thence east to corner of thence south to include
all the land the said Moore leaves out on both sides the said creek
thence up the Creek to the first station with all the houses,
buildings thereon and all his right title, interest and claimed in
and to the said premises and the reversion and reversions, remainder
and remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof and every part and
parcel thereof and with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging,
to have been to hold the said tract of land with all profits,
privileges, herediments and appurtenances thereunto belonging to the
said Thomas Christmas as aforesaid his heirs and assigns forever
they paying interest into for the same and the said William
Dickerson for himself his heirs and assigns doth covenant and agreed
to and with the said Thomas Christmas that the above granted
premises are free and clear of all manner of encumbrances whatsoever
to the said William Dickerson have an indisputable estate of
inheritance in fee simple to the said premises have power and
authority to sell and dispose of the same and the said William
Dickerson his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant secure and
forever defend of the same to the said Thomas Christmas his heirs
and assigns forever against the lawful claim demand of any person or
persons whatsoever and shall and will at any time hereafter on the
reasonable request of him the said Christmas make and executed a
conveyance in the law to better confirm and secure making the said
premises to said Christmas his heirs and assigns as shall be advised
and required in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal
the day and year first above written. The foregoing deed from William Dickerson to Thomas Christmas having been acknowledged in Bute Inferior Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions and ordered to be registered the same is truly registered this 2nd day of January 1770 by William Johnson, public registrar. |

This Indenture made this seventh day of May the year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and sixty-eight between William Dickerson of
the county of Bute and the province of North Carolina of the one
part, and William Moore of the County and province aforesaid of the
other part. Witnessed that the said William Dickerson for and in
consideration of the sum of twenty pounds current money of Virginia
to him in hand paid by the said William Moore at or before the
ensealing and delivery of the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
and the said William Dickerson he the said William Moore that hereby
acquitted and discharge have granted, bargained and sold, released
and confirmed and by these presents do fully and absolutely grant,
bargain, release, confirm unto the said William Moore his heirs and
assigns forever a certain tract of land lying and being in the
county of Bute aforesaid, and on the south side of Thomas Martin's
Creek containing two hundred and forty acres be the same more or
less. Beginning at the south corner and thence east for compliment
thence north to the said Martin's Creek, thence as the Creek runs to
the upper line and from thence to the beginning and all the house,
buildings thereon and all his right title, interest and claimed and
to the said premises and the reversion and reversions, remainder and
remainders, rents and issues and profits thereof and every part and
parcel thereof and with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging to
have been to hold the said tract of land with all the profits,
privileges, herediments and appertaining to the same belonging to
the said William Moore his heirs and assigns forever he Moore and
they paying interest for the same from the date herein and the said
William Dickerson for himself his heirs assigns doth covenant and
covenant and agree to and with the said William Moore that the above
granted premises are free and clear of all encumbrances whatsoever
and the said William Dickerson have and indisputable estate of
inheritance in fee simple into the said premises have power to sell,
and dispose of the same in the said William Dickerson his heirs and
assigns shall and will warrant security and forever defend the same
to the said William Moore his heirs and assigns forever against the
lawful claim or demand of any person or persons whatsoever and shall
and at any time hereafter on the reasonable request of him the said
Moore make and executed a conveyance in the law as shall ordered to
better confirming and say making the said premises to the said
William Moore his heirs and assigns as shall be advised Moore
acquired. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed
my seal the day and year first above written. CASWELL DRAKE to MATTHEW EVANS- 1814 |
This Indenture made
this 5th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred & fourteen between CASWELL DRAKE of the County of Warren and
State of N. Carolina of the one part and MATTHEW EVANS of the County
& State aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth that the said
CASWELL DRAKE for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred and
ten dollars current money of the United States to him in hand paid
by the sd MATTHEW EVANS before the dealing and delivery of these
presents the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge hath bargained
granted and sold and by these presents doth absolutely grant,
bargain and sell to the sd MATTHEW EVANS his heirs and assigns
forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the sd
County of Warren on the South side of single branch beginning on the
branch ISHAM BENNETT's line on a black oak thence up the sd branch
to a black oak at the mouth of the tarked branch thence up sd branch
to the head thence South east along a line of marked trees to a
black oak in JOHN HATHCOCK's line thence along his line East to
ISHAM BENNETT's line a white oak thence north along his line to the
first station containing by estimation one hundred acres more or
less together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto
belonging or in any wise appurtaining thereto. To have and to hold
the said land and premises to his own proper use and behoof forever,
and the said CASWELL DRAKE for himself his heirs &c doth moreover
convenant and agree to and with the sd MATTHEW EVANS that he hath a
good and lawful right and title to the aforesaid land and premises
and can lawfully convey the same, and that he will forever warrant
and defend the same against all and every person or persons
whatsoever unto the sd MATTHEW EVANS his heirs and assigns forever.
In witness whereof the sd CASWELL DRAKE hath hereunto set his hand
and seal the day and date abokve written. CASWELL DRAKE Signed, Sealed and delivered in presence of JAMES ALLEN THO'S STACKHOUSE State of North Carolina, Warren County The Execution of the above deed by CASWELL DRAKE was by him this day acknowledged before me.
