HENRY H. MACLIN to ALLEN GREEN- 1826

This Indenture made this 6th day of September in the year 1826 between HENRY H. MACLIN of the County of Warren and State of North Carolina of one part and ALLEN GREEN of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said HENRY H. MACLIN for and in consideration of the sum of fifty five dollars to him in hand paid by the said ALLEN GREEN before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth absolutely grant bargain and sell to the said ALLEN GREEN his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple one certain tract of land situate lying and being in the said County of Warren on the waters of Great Fishing Creek containing by estimation fifteen acres more or less and bounded as follows beginning at the bank of Great Fishing Creek at a white oak corner thence south a line of marked trees to the path to a large red oak thence South west a line of marked trees to a Spanish oak on the great path thence thence East as the path meanders to ALLEN GREEN's corner. Thence ALLEN GREEN's line to the said Creek thence up the said Creek to the beginning and the said HENRY H. MACLIN doth moreover covenant and agree to and with the said ALLEN GREEN that he the said HENRY H. MACLIN is at this time seised and possessed of a good and lawful title in and to the aforesaid bargained premises and can lawfully sell the same and that he will forever warrant and defend the same to the said ALLEN GREEN his heirs and assigns To have and to hold the said land and premises together with the appurtenances thereunto belonging against the claim or demand of all and every other person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said HENRY H. MACLIN hath hereunto set his hand and seal on the day first written.

CHARLES MARSHALL TO ABSALOM RICHARDSON- 1830

This Indenture made this 17th day of May in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred & Thirty between CHARLES MARSHALL of Warren County & State of No. Caroline of the one part and ABSALOM RICHARDSON of Halifax County & State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that I CHARLES MARSHALL and do by these presents bargain & sell to ABSALOM RICHARDSON The deed in consideration of the sum of Three Hundred and twenty Seven dollars to me in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged a certain tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of Warren & State aforesaid on the West side of Hawtree Creek containing Two hundred and eighteen acres more or less- Beginning at to post oak sapplings on the east side of the new Road in HARDY RICHARDSON's line and running South 85° East 67 poles to a stake, thence North 60 pole to two Spanish oaks, thence 85° east 143 pole to a white oak, thence North 27 east 11 pole to a Turkey oak on Hawtree Creek, thence up the meanders of said creek to a maple, thence West 143 pole to a hickory, on the aforesaid road thence with the said Road to the beginning. The right and title of said land, the said CHARLES MARSHALL binds himself, his heirs, executors and administrators to warrant and ever defend to the said ABSALOM RICHARDSON his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof I CHARLES MARSHALL have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year before mentioned.

This Indenture made this 29th of July A.D. 1831 between CHARLES MARSHALL of the County of Warren & State of No. Carolina of the one part and ABSALOM RICHARDSON of the County of Halifax & State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that I CHARLES MARSHALL have bargained & sold and do by these presents bargain and sell unto ABSALOM RICHARDSON (for and in consideration of the sum of Three Hundred Dollars to me in hand paid the rect. whereof is hereby acknowledged) a certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in the County of Warren & State aforesaid & adjoining the lands of GEO. ALSTON, HENRY SOUTHALL, JOHN BURGES and others, containing by estimation Four Hundred and fifty acres more or less being the tract of land on which the sd MARSHALL now lives, the right & title of said land I CHARLES MARSHALL do hereby warrant and defend unto the said ABSALOM RICHARDSON his heirs & assigns forever. This Indenture made this 19th May A.D. 1829 between CHAS. MARSHALL of the County of Warren & State of No. Carolina of the one part and HARDY RICHARDSON of the County of Halifax & State afores'd of the other part- Witnesseth that the said CHAS. MARSHALL for and in consideration of the sum of Seventy Six dollars 50¢ to him in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents the rec't he doth hereby acknowledge acquit and discharge the s'd CHS. MARSHALL have given, granted bargained & sold unto the said HARDY RICHARDSON a certain tract of land lying in the County of Warren and State aforesaid- Viz Beginning at a white oak thence running West 54 pole and 21 links to a sassafras ASA JAMES corner - thence No. 1½ West 61 pole to a post oak thence No. 22½ W 25½ pole to a post oak thence South 86½ E 76 ole and 18 links to a stake thence So. 2 West 98 pole 18 lks to the beginning containing Thirty eight and one fourth acres- to have and to hold the said land and premises with every benefit, privilege and appurtenance thereunto belonging to the only proper use and benefit of him the said HARDY RICHARDSON his heirs and assigns forever. And the said CHAS. MARSHALL for himself, his heirs executors & adm'rs doth forever warrant and defend the right and title of the above granted land and premises unto the said HARDY RICHARDSON his heirs and assigns forever against the claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I the said CHS MARSHALL have hereunto set my hand & seal the day and year first above written.

DAVID MARSHALL to JAMES MARTIN-1829

This Indenture made this twenty fifth day of August in in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and twenty nine between DAVID MARSHALL (a colored Freeman) of the County of Warren and State of North Carolina of the one part and JAMES MARTIN of the same State and County of the second part, and MYRICK DUKE of the same State and County of the third part. Witnesseth, that whereas the said DAVID MARSHALL is justly indebted to the said MYRICK DUKE in the sum of Two hundred and forty eight dollars and twenty five cents with interest from the 25th day of August 1829 by bond bearing date this 25th day of August 1829 Payable one day after date as of reference made to the said bond will now fully apear and the said DAVID MARSHALL being willing and disirous to secure the payment of the said bond with the interest due thereon. Now this indenture witnesseth that the said DAVID MARSHALL or and in consideration of the before recited promises and also the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid by the said JAMES MARTIN the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained, sold, aliened and conformed and by these presents doth bargain sell alien and confirm unto him the said JAMES MARTIN his heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land situated in the County of Warren aforesaid on the waters of Opossom Quarter Creek and thus bounded begining at a pine on the north side of the ridge path runing thence S.1 degree East 102 poles to a small turkey oak, thence S.876 W.86 poles, thence N.81 W.176 poles to MATTHEW DAVIS' gate, thence N.18 E.124¾ poles to a gum CHEEK's line, thence East to the Creek, thence up the creek as it meanders to a small wilson oak, thence N.83 E.4 3/5 poles along the old dance fence, thence S.82 E.27 1/5 poles, thence S.55 E.16 poles, thence S. 56½ E.35½ poles thence S.84 E.59 3/5 poles to a small red oak, thence S.73 E.37½ poles to the beginning containing by estimation one hundred and eighty five acres an a half of an acre be the same more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land with all and every of its appertenances to him the said JAMES MARTIN his heirs and assigns forever and he the said DAVID MARSHALL doth for himself his heirs &c covenant and agree to warrant the said land to him the said MARTIN his heirs and assigns against the claim of all and every person whatsoever. Upon special trust and confidence however to and for the use, intent and purposes following to wit if the said DAVID MARSHALL his heirs &c shall will and truly pay the said MYRICK DUKE his heirs or assigns the aforesaid sum of money with interest due as aforesaid on or before the twenty eighth day of August in the year Eighteen hundred and twenty nine and all expenses attending the execution of the business then this indenture shall be void but if he the said D. MARSHALL shall fail to do so then it shall and may be lawfull "for" the said JAMES MARTIN his heirs or assigns to make sale of the aforesaid tract of land with its appertenances for ready money after giving forty days notice of the time, terms & place of sale by public advertisement at the court house door in Warrenton and two other public places in the County and out of the proceeds of such sale to pay the said MYRICK DUKE the sum due him as aforesaid with interest and the expenses attending this business and the balance or overplus if any he shall pay to the said DAVID MARSHALL his heirs or assigns. In witness whereof the parties aforesaid have hereunto set their hands and seals this day and year first above written.

Know all men by these presents that I NATHAN MILAM for and in consideration of the sum of Seventeen hundred and Twenty five dollars to me in hand paid, the rece't whereof I do hereby acknowledge, have bargained, sold and delivered to OLIVER D. FITTS the following Negroes To wit, LETHA and her two children (HENRY and EMILY), MARY and CATHERINE and their future increase. And I the said NATHAN MILAM my heirs &c do covenant and agree to and with the and OLIVER D. FITTS his heirs &c the right and title of said Negroes forever to warrant and defend. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 2nd day of Feb'y 1835.

This Indenture made this ___ day of March in the year of our Lord 1764 between John Moseley, Edward Moseley, Sampson Moseley and James Moseley all of the County of New Hanover of the one part and Phillip Alston of the County of Granville of the other part, witnessed that the said John Moseley, Edward Moseley, Sampson Moseley, and James Moseley for it in consideration of the sum of 385 pounds provincial money have granted, Borg and, sold, aliened, enfeoffed, and confirmed and by these presents Duke Grant, Borg and, sell, alien, enfeoff, release and confirmed to the said Phillip Alston his heirs and assigns forever Ward divided tract of land situated in the County of Granville containing 2460 acres and bounded as follows to wit, beginning at a white wool at the north of hogshead branch that's up fishing Creek as it meanders to white oak and red oak, thence marked wind south 30 West 150 poles to Black Jack thence South 34 decreased when thousand 37 poles --- along branch to read the branch to her red oak, thence South 80 East 120 poles to the first station and also the reversion and reversions, the remainder and remainders, rents and services thereof and also all the Estate, right title, interest, claim and demand whatsoever of them the said John Moseley, Edward Moseley, Sampson Moseley, James Moseley of in and to the said premises and of in into every part and parcel thereof. To have and to hold the said divided tract or parcel of premises as above mentioned, with the appurtenances unto him the said Phillip Alston his heirs and assigns to the only purpose, use and behoove of him the said Phillip Alston his heirs and assigns forever, and the said John Moseley, Edward Moseley, Sampson Moseley for their cells at their errors jointly and severally do covet and Grant and with the said Phillip Alston his heirs and assigns shall and they forever here after at all times personally have hold it occupied process and enjoy the said divided tract or parcel of land and premises above mentioned with the appurtenances interest the title--- of them the said John Moseley, Edward Moseley, Sampson Moseley, James Moseley may heirs and assigns and all and every other person or persons unto power claiming or to claim any part and parcel parcel thereof and that first and discharged as otherwise Will and satisfactorily and keep himself and indemnify the and from all former and other bargains, sales, gifts, mortgages, jointers, dower orders, use sold wills, inheritance, bonds, Executors, judgments and executions and from all former and other bargains Thomas C. oath, gifts, grants to, mortgages, jointers, dowers, Wilkes, interested bonds, Executors, judgments, executions and from all other Estate, right title, interest whatsoever except that quit and two chargeable in the said land and payable to Earl Granville, and --- that the said John Moseley, and word Moseley, Sampson Moseley and James Moseley and their heirs and all and every other person and --- in the days land and the above mentioned for in possession of, reversion and for remainder shall --- Phillip Alston his heirs and assigns make, do execute all and every such further and other lawful --- act such names, desire and devise, consequences in the land whatsoever for the purpose, better and more perfect --- of the said Phillip Alston his heirs and assigns for ever according to the --- the said John Moseley, Samuel Moseley, Edward Moseley, James Moseley may heirs and assigns said tract or parcel of land and premises and every part thereof unto the said Phillip Alston his heirs and assigns shall Warrenton forever defend by these presents.
