Mary Lib Taylor has contributed the following information on the history of this lovely home. "This house is known as the Dr. Pitchford house, once called Long Branch. This is a Greek Revival structure as an addition to a small vernacular Georgian home, which was formerly owned by Dr. Pitchford's mother, Elizabeth Davis Pitchford, daughter of Matthew Davis. The house is located near Inez, N. C. in Warren County The builder was Albert Gamaliel Jones who also built other homes in the area. He built Louisburg College in Louisburg, N. C. and Chowan College in Murfreesboro, N. C. Albert Jones wife was Elizabeth Harriet Harris, daughter of Yerby Harris of Warren Co., N. C." |
