Her obituary appeared as follows: HICKORY - Ida Lail Day, 88, of Hickory, died Dec. 5, 2006, at Lutheran Home West. Born Jan. 15, 1918, in Alexander County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Pearl Bolick Lail. A member of Calvary Baptist Church, she retired from Wycoff Hosiery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Day; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas (Tommy) and Lynda Day of Newton; and eight brothers and sisters. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Eleanor Day and Jerry and Gloria Day of Hickory; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Roger Buff of Hickory; a brother, Claude Lail of Bethlehem; a sister, Mae Moses of Bethlehem; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Bert Dixon and David Day at 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family will be at Bass-Smith Funeral Home from 5:30 to 7:30 tonight, Thursday.
