In 1828 he bought 251 acres on Clarks Creek a farm for $600 which later was known as the Peter Herman place. Peter and Barbara's children were Ephriam, Lorina, who married Adam Flowers; George, who married Barbara Hunsucker; John, who married Elizabeth Killian; Mathias, who married 29 June 1839 Anne Peterson; Katharine, Sallie, who married William Fox; Elizabeth, who married George Bowman; and Anna Herman, who married Grisson Spencer. Peter Herman gave land for St. Peters Church near Newton. He later belonged to the St. Paul's Lutheran congregation and was an elder for many years. -- MERGED NOTE ------------ Abstract of Wills Rev.
