Spainhour, John Wesley (d-1914)

Mr. John Wesley Spainhour, of King, one of Stokes County’s best citizens, passed away Thursday night at St. Leo’s Hospital, where he underwent an operation two weeks ago. He had been ill with a complication of diseases for some months.

The deceased was aged 61 years and is survived by a wife and five children. His two sons are Messrs. E.O. and J.W. Spainhour, both of Winston. The three daughters are Mrs. Will R. Kiger, of King, Mrs. Edgar Neal, of Greensboro, and Miss Spainhour, a trained nurse, of Charlotte.

Mr. Spainhour, who was formerly postmaster at King, was well known here as well as throughout this county, and has a host of friends who were pained to learn of his death.

The deceased was a member of the M.E. church for more than twenty years, and was also an honored member of the Junior Order in his home town.
