Jan 2018– “I am trying to find documentation for a marriage of Henry Smith (born 1795). He married a woman named Sarah (born 1800). They are said to have married about 1815 in Stokes County but no one seems to have it documented. Her last name may have been Shelton. Any information would be helpful. Someone said lots of Sheltons lived in Stokes County. The family moved to Tennessee in about 1830. Thank you for any time and help you can give me”
Aug 2017– “In particular, I have an article that states my ancestors William Richardson and wife Sally or Sarah Watson lived on the Watson plantation between Beaver’s Creek and Reed Creek north of the Dan river after their marriage in 1795 until Robert Wall bought the land in 1820. However, I can find not information on the Watson plantation or on the Robert Wall that bought the land. Any help, articles, or records you could send my way would be greatly appreciated. Also, the land originally belonged to Sarah’s parents, John and Margaret Watson. Thank you for your time and attention!”
Jul 2017– “I am looking for information on Valentine Morgan who resided in Stokes Co. according to the 1790 census (along with 6 females!) . My question: are all the Stokes Co. records available to ancestry.com or do I need to call to ask for additional records? Frankly, I am not sure when Valentine came to Stokes Co.,, but he enlisted in the Revolutionary War and served under Capt. (?) John Morgan”
