Boyles, Martha J. (1840-1907)

Martha J. Boyles, nee Browder was born Sept 6, 1840, died Feb 1, 1907, aged 66 years, 4 months and 25 days. She leaves two children, Mrs. Susan R. Roberts and W.R. Boyles, 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a large number of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. She was a professor of religion for about 40 years, first a member of Mt. Olive Baptist church, but joined the M.E. church at Chestnut Grove about 11 years ago. She lived a consistent Christian life for many years, and was a kind good mother and grandmother, a good obliging neighbor. She will be missed by many, but especially by her children and grandchildren. She was buried at Chestnut Grove church.

1912 Sept- Boyles & Gordon

A pretty wedding was solemnized last Sunday on Germanton Route 1 when Miss Mary Gordon became the bride of Mr. W.W. Boyles. The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride’s parents, and was attended by a number of relatives and friends of the young couple.

Miss Gordon is the popular and accomplished young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.Y. Gordon, and among that section’s most prominent people, while Mr. Boyles is a member of the firm of Boyles Bros., the well known clothing men, who operate large stores both at Winston-Salem and Reidsville, and is manager of the store at that place. He is formerly of this county.

Boyles, Delia (d- 1876)

Died, on the 29th of May, in the 30th year of her age, Mrs. Delia J. Boyles, wife of the Rev. Thomas Boyles. She was a good woman, and left many friends to mourn their loss.
