Savage, William Anderson (d-1959)

MURPHY- William Anderson Savage, 82, former resident of Murphy, died at 5:30 am Sunday in an Atlanta, Ga. hospital following a long illness. Mr. Savage was a native of Stokes County, a son of the late E.A. and Charlotta Savage. Services will be held at 3:00 pm Monday in Murphy First Methodist Church.

Savage, Thomas H. (d-1880)

Died March 8th, 1880, after a lingering sickness, Thomas H. Savage, aged 77 years and 23 days. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. He loved and worked for the church of Christ. His death was calm and triumphant, he has left an aged wife, his surviving children and grandchildren to feel his absence, but they have the assurance that their loss is his eternal gain.

E.A.Savage, 91, Dies At Murphy

Pioneer Cherokee Citizen Will Be Buried This Afternoon Murphy, Apr 23.- E.A.Savage, 91, died Monday night at 11 o clock at his home at the Regal Hotel, Murphy. He was born and raised in Stokes County, N.C., but had been citizen of Murphy for the past 15 years. He was married in 1866 to Miss Charlotta Savage, and to this union were born nine children Mrs. Laura Silver, Tacoma, Wash; C.W. and W.A. Savage, Murphy; Dr. Frank Savage, Hatch, New Mexico; James T. Savage, Coeburn, Va.; deceased, Mrs. Nannie Gunderson; Charles P. Savage, Tacoma, Wash; Walter G. Savage, Chihuhahua, Mexico; Mrs. Lizie Burns, Murphy. Mr. Savage had been a faithful member of the M.E. Church for about 60 years was a veteran of the Civil war and possibly the oldest citizen in Cherokee county. He returned about three weeks ago from Florida where he had spent the winter. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the Methodist church.

Murphy Rites Arranged For C.W.Savage Murphy-

Funeral services for C.W. Savage, 81, Murphy hotel operator and businessman, who died of pneumonia Friday morning in a Murphy hospital, will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in Murphy Presbyterian Church. He had been for only a few hours. Mr. Savage came to Murphy in 1915. He operated the Regal Hotel for a number of years, and later erected the Savage Hotel which he operated at the time of his death. He was a native of Stokes County and spent his early years in Mt. Airy. Surviving are the widow; an adopted son, W. Burt Savage of Norfolk, Va; three brothers, W.A. of Cornelia, Ga., Charles P. of Tacoma, Wash; and Walter G. of Baton Rouge, La., two sisters, Mrs. A.J. Burns of Murphy, and Mrs. J.T. Griffith of Cornelia, Ga., four grandchildren and three nieces. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery, members of the Murphy Masonic lodge will conduct graveside rites.
