Eaton History
As you well know, I am a fan of The Piedmont Trails blog. One recent entry, the family surname Eaton, falls right in with a direct family line of my own.
The Eaton family can be found throughout Stokes, Surry, and Rowan County-to name a few. Here is the link to the Eaton blog post. While you are there read about Christopher Valentine; most people find it to a unique and interesting story.

Tuttle Family Papers– 1842-1903
“Members of the Tuttle family lived in Stokes County, N.C. The collection includes letters and financial and legal material of the Tuttle family and their Martin family relatives in Floyd County, Va. Letters deal chiefly with routine family matters in the 1840s and 1850s; one letter describes a visit to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1895”. |

Hi…I’m Sylvia, the new Stokes County coordinator. I live in this area and my earliest (known) relative arrived in 1804. So I am always interested in the history of Stokes County! Don’t hesitate to ask questions, submit information, or say hello! If you hit a brick wall, not just in Stokes County, don’t hesitate to ask, I’m pretty good at solving mysteries 🙂
If you haven’t seen them, here’s just a few of our local Churches and Cemeterie
I love those extra things that bring history to life, so I shared a few Extra Links you may not have known existed!
