There was a sad accident on Danbury, N.C. a few days ago. Sudie Throckmorton, 11 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Throckmorton, was crossing a foot log that spans Little Snow Creek, near their home when she fell in and was drowned before she could be rescued. Her 10 year old brother was with her at the time and also fell in but succeeded in climbing out before getting into the swift current of the stream. The brother and children were on their way home from school. The recent heavy rains had greatly swollen the stream.

Old Mr. Peter Fulp, the father of Joseph Fulp, of this county, who was living alone in his own house near his son’s dwelling, was burned to death last week. The house in which he lived was discovered to be on fire, when some persons hastened to it and forced open the door. The old man was seen lying on the floor near the fire place, but the blaze of falling- in building filled the doorway so that it was out of the power of human aid to save him, and he was consumed with the building.
