Spainhour, John Wesley (d-1914)

Mr. John Wesley Spainhour, of King, one of Stokes County’s best citizens, passed away Thursday night at St. Leo’s Hospital, where he underwent an operation two weeks ago. He had been ill with a complication of diseases for some months.

The deceased was aged 61 years and is survived by a wife and five children. His two sons are Messrs. E.O. and J.W. Spainhour, both of Winston. The three daughters are Mrs. Will R. Kiger, of King, Mrs. Edgar Neal, of Greensboro, and Miss Spainhour, a trained nurse, of Charlotte.

Mr. Spainhour, who was formerly postmaster at King, was well known here as well as throughout this county, and has a host of friends who were pained to learn of his death.

The deceased was a member of the M.E. church for more than twenty years, and was also an honored member of the Junior Order in his home town.

Smith, Infant (d-1915)

The little infant of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Smith passed away Saturday night of an illness of several days. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. John D. Smith. After the services the body was laid to rest in the family burying ground where a large crowd of friends and relatives were gathered to witness the burial.

Moser, Malinda (d-1915)

Mrs. Malinda Moser was born Apr 1, 1838 and died May 27, 1915, aged 77 years, 1 month and 27 days. She was a member of Palmyra Methodist Church for long years and lived most earnest, faithful and consistent Christian til the close of her earthly pilgrimage. She would often speak faith in Jesus Christ and her hopes of Heaven and would get happy and shout praises of God. She said before she died that she was going home.

Pulliam, Martha A. (d-1906)

King, May 15,- Mrs. Martha A.E.Pulliam, familiarly known as “Aunt Betsey”, died in her home Saturday evening at the advanced age of 81 years. The interment was at Trinity church Sunday.
