Throckmorton, Child of Mr. & Mrs. Henry Throckmorton (d-1922)

The four year old child of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Throckmorton, of Danbury Route 1, was accidently killed Monday evening at the home of its parents in the most unusual manner. The child was playing on a heavy pole lying across a stump, which was being used a sa merry go round, when the log slipped off the stump, falling on the child and breaking its neck.

Eaton, Infant (d-1912)

King Route 2, Feb 26- The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Eaton died of scrofula Sunday morning about 4 o’clock and was buried at the Oliver Grove Cemetery Monday afternoon.

Kiser, Henry W. (1846-1913)

Henry W. Kiser was born Sept. 12, 1846 and died May 28, 1913. His stay on earth was 66 years, 8 months, and 16 days. He was a devoted husband and kind loving father. He leaves a widow and eight children, all of whom survive. The funeral services were conducted from the Mt. Olive church.

Tuttle Family Papers

Tuttle Family Papers– 1842-1903

“Members of the Tuttle family lived in Stokes County, N.C. The collection includes letters and financial and legal material of the Tuttle family and their Martin family relatives in Floyd County, Va. Letters deal chiefly with routine family matters in the 1840s and 1850s; one letter describes a visit to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1895”.

Williams, Richard (d-1914)

Died of heart disease at his home on Campbell Route One Friday- was quite a young man, aged 35. C.D. and G.W. Smith, of Snow Creek, visited Danbury Monday and reported the death of Mr. Richard Williams, which occured at his home. Mr. Williams who was only 35 years of age, had had several heart attacks of heart trouble, but had recently been up and going about. His passing was rather sudden. He is survived by a wife and several children. The interment was made on Sunday at the Cardwell graveyard.

Gordon, Alice (-1914)

Pilot Mtn, Apr. 27, Mrs. Alice Gordon died at her home here Saturday night at the age of 65 years. She had been in declining health for several months. Mrs. Gordon was a good woman who was loved by everybody who knew her. She was a consistent member of the Primitive Baptist church for 42 years. She was laid to rest at Mt. Olive cemetery in the presence of a large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives.

She is survived by three children, two sisters, and three brothers. The children are Mrs. Dora Venable and Mrs. Emma Hanes of Pilot Mt. and Bud Gordon of King Route 2. Her brothers and sisters are Mrs. Lethia King of Capella, Miss Ellen Cook and Messrs. J.W. and Frank Cook, of Pilot Mtn. and Tom Cook of Indiana. Her husband preceded her to the grave several years ago.
