THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT

JUDITH GREGORY

October 21, 1753

In the name of God Amen I JUDITH GREGORY being very sick and weak but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to almight God for it do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testement in maner and form as followeth that is to say furst I recommend my soul to God that gave it and my body to the earth to be buried at the discracion of my Exc…hereafter menthened——–

Iom. I give and bequeath to my well belove Son ISAAC GREGORY my new Desk

Iom. I give and bequeath to my beloved friend MARY LOYED one cow and cluf and one three year old hefer and two head of sheep and all my gees and one new coten gown and three head of yong cattel of two years old apeas.

Iom. I give and bequath all the rest of my estat that shall beleft after my lawfull debts be paid to be equally devided betwose my four children ISAAC, DEMSEY, MARY and LOVEY except my waring cloath to be equally devid between my two Daughters MARY and LOVEY.

And likewise I ordain and constute and apint my well beloved Brother JOSEPH MORGEN to be my whole and sole Executer of this my Last Will and Testement as witness my hand and seal this 21th day of October 1753.

As it happened to be forgoten in the body of my will to order the desposhal of my childern of mak this adishon my will and desir is that my exec.t take these of my children ISAACDEMSEY and MARY and keep them and there estates tel thay arafe to full age or marry and likwise my desir is that my beloved Daughter issies WILL Son have my Daughters LOVEY and my will is that my children may not be removed nor suppeted to Chase Gardens as witness my hand and seal

Appeared in open Court and made & oath on the Holy Evangelist that he was present and saw JUDITH GREGORY sign seal publish and declare the within to be her Last Will and Testament, and that she was then of sound and disposing memory and that he also saw JOHN EVERIGIN and SAMUEL SCOTT, the other Evidoneois(?) sign their names thereto at the same time then appeared JOSEPH MORGAN Exer. And Relinquished his right to MARK GREGORY thereupon it was ordered that MARK GREGORY have the Admin. with Will annexed ??? security in one hundred pounds proclamation money declared that the Honorable JIMPS(?) MURRAY Esq. Secretary have ???? that Letters issue dated at the Clerkes Office the 12th day of January 1754

River…granted by Bailey Needham to Cornelious Jones….butted and bounded as was divided to Thomas Needham by his brother….all that part except 5 a. that was conveyed to Phillip Torksey. The remaining land contained by and in begining at the river binding said Torksey’s line to Abel Gallop’s line to a corner pine of Joseph   ? to 1st station. 70 a. Oct 18, 1775

Nw. course to Joseph Sawyer’s line thence along line to the branch thence to Creek Swamp, then binding the Mill pond to the 1st station. witts. James Sanderlin & Cornelious Sawyer.

  24. Sept 11, 1777…Robert Gray to Corneilous Sawyer for 100 pds…..land begining at the branch along Creek Swamp to a branch joining Sill’s (Sylvanus) line & Lisha (Elisha) Sawyer’s branch. witts. James Sanderlin& Silvanus Sawyer

Oct 18, 1777 James Sanderlin, wheelwright of the county of Camden& Joshua Sawyer, planter of said county for 100 pds..100 a. pattened by Thomas Taylor and bounded by David Spence’s corner at the river side thence along line to Joseph O’Daniel’s line to 1st station. witt. Joshua Sawyer, planter to James Sanderlin, wheelwright , for 110 pds….tract of land bounded as follows…begining at a pine formerly Brockett’s corner near the head of the swamp…thence to Wright’s line..to Faircliff’s line down to the swamp..to the Run. Being the 50 a. Thomas Faircliff gave in a deed to Edward Faircliff, afterward belonging to William Bray, then John Sanderlin to said Joshua Sawyer togeather with all houses, cleared land and woodland.   88. October 31, 1776 Joseph Relfe of Pasq. to Lemuel Sawyer for 280 pds 150 a. tract on N.E. side of Pasq. River. Begining at John Relefe’s landing on Sawyer’s Creek thence running a small distance down the creek to Joseph Jones line thence binding Jones line a northerly course so as the lane runs to William McCoys corner at Horn Ridge thence easterly to James Ferebee’s line thence westerly along said Ferebee’s Plantation then westward along causeway or road to the foot of a lane then binding the swamp& creek to the landing.

LAMB, JACOB JENNINGS – (d. 1954)

Jacob Jennings Lamb——–July 22. 1954——–Jacob Jennings Lamb 83, died today at 1;10 am. after  a lingering illness at the home of his daughter, Mrs. pearl Hastings, in Camden.    He was the son of Lempel and Elizabeth Richardson Lamb and the husband of  the late  Maggie Brown Lamb. He was a member of Sawyers Creek Baptist Church.   Survivors are six daughters, Mrs. John D. Seymour of Belcross, Mrs. George Williams, Mrs. Laura Hodges, Mrs. Pearl Hastings, and Mrs. Morris Upton of Camden.  Mrs. Hazel Scott of Elizabeth City;  three sons—- Judson Lamb of Elizabeth City, Clarance lamb of Jacksonville, FL. and Horace Lamb of Camden. 24 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted  by the Rev. Paul  F. Burke, pastor of Merry Hill Baptist church at the Toxey , Berry and Lynch funeral home, Saturday at 2;30 . burial will be in the new Hollywood cemetery
