I have included it here because it is listed as a part of the USGS National Mapping Information site. The list that results from searching the site for Person County cemeteries is listed on the Person County Cemeteries on USGS Maps web page. The graves in this cemetery were moved when Carolina Power & Light Company (now Progress Energy) purchased the land for inclusion in Mayo Lake, then being constructed as a part of the Mayo Power Plant. The permits for disinterment / reinterment for this cemetery are recorded in book 88, page 256 and following, in the Person County Register of Deeds. Moving the graves was completed on July 8, 1976. GPS Coordinates: 36 25 52.8 N 079 02 34.0 W Survey: July 21 2004 by Ed Clayton. I have named this cemetery the "John Rogers Cemetery" because his grave and that of his wife Elizabeth appear to be the oldest in the cemetery and they are both the only graves in the cemetery located inside a fence. I welcome information recording the family connections of those buried in this cemetery and will add it as comments here.
