Location: Moores Mill Road (SR 1737) beside Winchester Road (SR 1768) Directions: From Roxboro, take 501S to left on Red Mountain Road (Durham County) to left on Moores Mill Road. Pass Person County line and cross bridge, pass Rassie Crabtree Road (SR 1736) cemetery is on right bank of road beside Winchester Road. Access: Semi-maintained and near the road. Survey: Oct 2004 by Ken Dalton and Becky Farlow GPS: 36 14 51.5 N 078 54 27.7 W This cemetery appears to be just one maintained corner of a much larger periwinkle covered and wooded area with much disruption of burials and fieldstones. Calvin Lester Oakley, Sr., born: July 20, 1854, died: November 11, 1927, Calvin married Sarah Sheloma Virginia Harris. He is the son of Moses Lowson & Elizabeth Painter Oakley. 2. Sarah Sheloma Virginia Harris Oakley, born: July 18, 1857, died: December 7, 1940. Sarah married Calvin Lester Oakley, Sr. She is the daughter of James & Martha Reagan Harris. Calvin and Sarah had twelve children. Of those twelve children, four are buried in this cemetery. 3. Samuel Moses Oakley, born: January 9, 1885, died: April 12, 1927, Son of Calvin Lester & Sarah Sheloma Virginia Harris Oakley, Sr., Samuel was never married. Samuel was known as an excellent fiddle player. He was a farmer and died of pneumonia. Sam was the first person buried in this Cemetery. 4. John William (Willie) Oakley, Sr., born: February 8, 1898, died: March 8,1984. Willie was the husband of Gracie Clayton. He is the son of Calvin Lester Sr. & Sarah Sheloma Virginia Harris Oakley. J.W. was known as "Willie". Willie and Gracie have a double headstone in the cemetery. They had a total of thirteen children. At this time five of their children have pasted and are buried in this cemetery. Willie was a farmer. He and his wife Gracie sold land to the City of Roxboro for a water Reservoir better known as "City Lake". It should be noted that J.W. Oakley Sr. gave the land for this cemetery. 5. Gracie Clayton Oakley, born: August 23, 1899, died: April 2, 1983. Gracie married John William Oakley, Sr. She is the daughter of John Alvis & Violet Elizabeth Oakley Clayton. 6. Christine Landis Oakley, born: October 5, 1919, died: June 16, 1921. Christine is the daughter of John William, Sr. & Gracie Clayton Oakley. 7. James Edward Oakley, born: February 25, 1921, died: August 22, 1966. James married Helen Mae Harris. James is the son of John William, Sr. & Gracie Clayton Oakley. James and Helen have a double headstone. Years after James pasted, Helen married another man and is buried elsewhere. James and Helen did not have any children. 8. John William (J.W.) Oakley, Jr., born: July 3, 1922, died: December 16, 1960. 9. J.W. married Thelma Duncan. He is the son of John William, Sr. and Gracie Clayton Oakley. 10. Thelma Duncan Oakley, born: December 25, 1923, died: June 22, 2003. Thelma married John William "JW" Oakley, Jr. She is the daughter of George Graham & Nannie Mae Clayton Duncan. 11. Infant Twin Oakley, born: April 15, 1944, died: April 18, 1944. He is the son of John William "JW", Jr. & Thelma Duncan Oakley. 12. Evon Dale Oakley Duncan, born: July 23, 1943, died: April 22, 2004. Evon married Colon Kelly Duncan. She was the daughter of John William and Gracie Clayton Oakley. 13. Ralph William Eastwood, born: February 19, 1916, died: April 16, 1980. Ralph married Carrie Lucille Oakley. He is the son of Wiley P. & Effie Eliza Wilson Eastwood. 14. Robert Irvin Clayton, born: October 15, 1916, died: February 18, 1973. Robert married Virginia Elizabeth Oakley. He is the son of Simeon Gilliam & Anna Eliza Rice Clayton. 15. Linda Darnell Clayton, born: May 16, 1947, died: October 25, 1948. She is the daughter of Robert Irvin & Virginia Elizabeth Oakley Clayton. 16. Donn Rickey Clayton, born: June 8, 1949, died: February 28, 1970. He is the son of Robert Irvin & Virginia Elizabeth Oakley Clayton. Rickey never married. 17. Douglas M. Latta, Sr., born: November 16, 1925, died: February 24, 1993. Doug married Ida Sue Oakley. He is the son of Alex & Pauline Overton Latta. 18. Raymond Arnold Oakley, born: November 12, 1929, died: October 9, 1985. Raymond married Nannie Lou Hubbard. He is the son of John William & Gracie Clayton Oakley. 19. Carl Reginald Oakley, Jr., born: January 22, 1960, died: January 22, 1960. He is the son of Carl Reginald, Sr. & Lillian Long Oakley. 20.
