The parent's names in the original index include father and mother and are separated by a dash. I have separated these at the dash into separate columns for fathers and mothers. Where only one parent was listed, I placed that parent in the appropriate column, based on given name. So, please be aware that errors could exist where only one parent was given. Also be aware that the given name of mothers was often all that is listed, although there are some instances where the given name and maiden name are listed. If you also wish to search the index for parents with a certain surname, you will have to search each file using the EDIT - FIND feature of your web browser.

If you want to order a copy of a full death certificate, they may be obtained from the Register of Deeds, Tyrrell County, P.O. Box 449, Columbia, NC 27925, telephone (919) 796-2901. Please include the deceased's name, book number and page number. The index may not include page numbers for more recent deaths because they are not assigned a page number until a book is completed. Then they are copied to the index.
