This Indenture made this Eighth of May in the year of our Lord Eighteen
hundred & thirty between FREDERICK GOINS of the County of Halifax &
State of N. Carolina of the one part & ISHAM MILLS of the County of
Halifax & State of North Carolina of the other part Witnesseth that the
said FREDERICK GOINS* for & in consideration of the sum of Seventy Six
Dollare to him in hand paid by the said ISHAM MILLS at & before the
sealing & delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I hereby
acknowledged by the said FREDERICK GOINS he the said FREDERICK GOINGS
hat granted bargained & sold & by these presents doth grant bargain &
sell unto the said ISHAM MILLS his heirs & assigns one tract or parcel
of land & premises situated lying & being in the County of Halifax &
State of N. Carolina bounded as follows, Beginning at a hickory on
SLEDGE's spring branch & running N 12 E 81 poles to a spanish oak then
S82 E 10 poles then S73 E 50 pole to a pointed corner two post oaks two
red oaks & one hickory then S 12 W 98 poles to a pine at highwater mark
of WILLIS's old mill pond thence by the highwater mark to a willow oak
on the aforesaid branch thence up the meanders of said branch to the
beginning containing thirty six & one half acres more or less. To have &
to hold the said or parcel of land & premises with all & singular the
appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining unto the
said ISHAM MILLS his heirs & assigns. And the said FREDERIK GOINS for
himself bind his heirs against himself & his heirs & against all & every
person or persons whatsoever will warrant & forever defend by these
presents unto the said ISHAM MILLS his heirs & assigns forever. In
witness whereof the said FREDERICK GOINGS hath hereunto set his hand &
seal this day & year above written.

This indenture made the 19th day of May in the year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and eighty three between WILLIAM GRIMSLEY of
Halifax County in the one part and EDWARD MOORLAND of the County of
Halifax on the other part Witnesseth that the said WILLIAM GRIMSLEY for
and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds current money to
him in hand before the unsealing and delivery of these presents the
receipt whereof he doth acknowledge and thereof and every part thereof
doth acquit and discharge the afs'd EDWARD MOORLAND his heirs Excrs
Admrs and assigns forever hath given granted bargained sold aliened
released and confirmed and doth by these give grant bargain sell alien
release and confirm unto the afsd EDWARD MOORLAND two hundred and twenty
two acres of land lying in the County of Halifax afsd on the North side
of Great Quonkee Creek, it being known by the name of Richardsons Place
given by JOHN MOORLAND to daughter MARTHA MOORLAND in the year one
thousand seven hundred and sixty one, to wit it being the supposed half
of four hundred & forty four acres of a tract of land held by sd JOHN
MOORLAND beginning at the mouth of a branch on the said Creek side
running Wt. 15 degrees East to the backline and the reversion and
reversions remainder and remainders and all the right title claim and
Estate of him the said WILLIAM GRIMSLEY his heirs and assigns to any
part or parcel thereof To have and to hold the said Two hundred and
twenty two acres of land be the same more or less to the said EDWARD
MOORLAND his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use & behoof
of the afs'd EDWARD MOORLAND his heirs and assigns forever and the afs'd
WILLIAM GRIMSLEY doth for himself his heirs Exrs, Admrs doth warrant the
premises unto the afs'd EDWARD MOORLAND against him the afs'd WILLIAM
GRIMSLEY his heirs or any other person or persons whatsoever. In witness
whereof the afs'd WILLIAM GRIMSLEY hath hereunto set his hand and seal
the day and year first within written.
