This Indenture made the 6th day of March anno Domini one thousand Eight
hundred & twenty between JAMES INGRAM of the County of Northamton &
State of North Carolina of the one part & DANIEL MILLS of Halifax County
& State aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth: that the said JAMES
INGRAM for & in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars to him in hand
paid the receipt whereof he the said JAMES INGRAM doth acknowledge &
therefore doth release, acquit & discharge the said DANIEL MILLS he the
said JAMES INGRAM hath bargained, sold & confirmed & by these presents
do hereby bargain, alien, enfeoff, release & confirm unto the said
DANIEL MILLS one certain tract or parcel of land to him his heirs &
assigns forever containing seventy seven acres situate, being & lying in
the aforesaid County of Halifax bounded as follows, on the North by the
land formerly belonging to BENJ. JUSTIS, on the West by THOS. W. JENKINS
on the South by WILLIAM KING & on the East side by BENJAMIN C. EATON. To
have & to hold the said tract or parcel of land with all & every of the
appurtenances improvements to the only use & behoof of him the said
DANIEL MILLS & of his heirs & assigns forever. And the said JAMES INGRAM
doth further covenant & agree to & with the said DANIEL MILLS his heirs
& assigns forever that he the said JAMES INGRAM will warrant & forever
defend the absolute right & just title in the aforesaid bargained
premises to the said DANIEL MILLS his heirs & assigns forever against
the claim or demand of any & every person whatever. In witness whereof
the said JAMES INGRAM hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the
day & year above written.

Then this Deed was exhibited in Court & duly proved by J. EDWARDS one of
the subscribing witnesses thereto & on motion ordered to be registered.

THOMAS IRBY to JONES LEE- 1859

This Indenture, made this fourteenth day of August One thousand eight
hundred and fifty eight between THO'S IRBY of the one part and JONES LEE
of the other part both of the County of Halifax and State of North
Carolina. Witnesseth that I the said THO'S IRBY for and in consideration
of the sum of Fifty dollars to me in hand paid the receipt whereof is
hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these
presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said JONES LEE a certain
tract or moiety of land lying and being of land lying and being in the
County and State aforesaid on the waters of Hawtree Creek containing
nineteen acres more or less it being one seventh (7) part of two tracts
of land which was allotted by commissioners in the division of the lands
of the late WILLIAM IRBY deceased to WILLIAM and CALVIN IRBY reference
to the report of the commissioners will show the land. To have and to
hold the above bargained premises to the only proper use and behoof of
him the said JONES LEE his heirs and assigns forever and I the said
THO'S IRBY for myself my heirs Executors and Administrators will warrant
and forever defend against the lawful claim or claims of every person or
persons whomsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
affixed my seal this day and date first above written.

Then the foregoing Deed was exhibited in Open Court and the execution
thereof was duly proved by the oath of T. P. MATTHEWS a witness thereto.
Therefore let the said deed together with this certificate be
registered.
