This Indenture made this 20 July 1814 between JOHN TONEY of the one part
and AMBROSE V. WINTERS & NATHAN BAKER of the other part all of Halifax
County and State of North Carolina, for & in consideration of the sum of
one hundred & four dollars & 62 cents which the said AMBROSE V. WINTERS
& NATHAN BAKER share security for as pr note this day executed to
RICHARD JONES the said JOHN TONEY hat this day mortgaged & pledged to
said WINTERS & BAKER one tract of land to contain one hundred eighty
acres also four head of horses, and ten head cattle to secure the
payment of the above sum and when the said JOHN TONEY shall pay the
above sum with Interest and all cost thereon the same to be paid by next
Christmas then these presents to be void or else remain in full force &
virtue. Given under my hand and seal the date above.

JOHN TONEY to JOHN ALSTON-1820

This Indenture made this 4th day of February one thousand Eight hundred
& Twenty Between JOHN TONEY of Halifax County & State of North Carolina
in the one part & COL. JOHN ALSTON of the County & State aforesaid on
the other part Witnesseth that whereas the said JOHN TONEY is justly in
debted to RICHARD JONES Merchant of Halifax County the just sum of one
hundred & ninety dollars & fifty two cents also notes bearing dates one
of the 21 July 1814 & the other with these presents which sums of money
he the said JOHN TONEY wishes honestly to secure & pay to siad RICHARD
JONES and also for the further sum of one dollar to him in bond paid by
said RICHARD JONES before sealing & delivering these presents the
receipt is hereby acknowledged by him the JOHN TONEY doth hereby
acknowledge hath given granted bargained sold aliened enseoffed &
confirmed the said JOHN TONEY doth by these presents grant seal alien
enseoff & confirm unto the said COL. JOHN ALSTON his heirs Exrs., Admrs.
or Assigns forever the following property viz one tract of land said to
contain one hundred & eighty acres be the same more or less lying &
being in the County of Halifax & State of North Carolina joining the
lands of PATSY MOUNTFORT, COL. SILWAM NEWSOM & others & whereon sd J.
TONEY now lives and also seventy head of cattle, four head of horses, my
stock of hogs and the said JOHN TONEY for myself my heirs Exrs. Admrs. &
assigns shall abide by these presents warrant & forever defend the above
granted lands & other named stock to him the said COL. JOHN ALSTON his
heirs or assigns forever in trust to the intent that when the said COL
JOHN ALSTON shall & may whensoever he thinks fit is proper or whensoever
the said RICHARD JONES his heirs or assigns may demand sell the said
lands & stock in so much, thereafter giving forty days notice for ready
money, as will satisfy the said debt & interest all cost for recording
this Deed & expenses of the sale & the balance if any to be returned to
said JOHN TONEY. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal
this 4 day of Feby 1820.

This Indenture made this 12th day of April year of our Lord Eighteen
hundred & twenty Eight Between the heirs of JOHN TONY dec'd of Halifax
County & State of NC of the one part and WM. BROWNING of the County &
State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said heirs of JOHN
TONEY dec'd doth bargain, grant and sale unto the said WILLIAM BROWNING
certain parcel or tract of land lying in the State of Tenessee[sic]
& Shelby County by Estimation 640 acres more or less, and we the said
heirs of JOHN TONEY dec'd for & in consideration of a certain tract or
parcel of land being in the County of Halifax & State of North Carolina
adjoining the lands of WM E. SHINE containing 315 acres more or less and
we the said Heirs of JOHN TONEY dec'd do bind ourselves jointly &
severally to defend for ourselves heirs be unto the said WM. BROWNING &
his heirs all right title & claims or claims against the said parcel or
tract of land lying & being in the County of Shelby & State of Tenessee.

This Indenture made this 26th day of January Eighteen hundred & thirty
Between MARTHA TONEY of Halifax County & State of North Carolina of the
one part & WILLIAM MILES of Northampton County & State aforesaid of the
other part Witnesseth that the said MARTHA TONEY in consideration of the
sum of fifty Dollars in hand paid by the said WILLIAM MILES the receipt
whereof I do hereby acknowledge have bargained & sold & by these
presents do bargain & sell unto WILLIAM MILES his heirs & assigns
forever in fee simple one certain tract or parcel of land lying in
Halifax County & not aforesaid adjoining the lands of WILLIAM SHINES &
others containing twenty acres more or less. To have & to hold the said
land & premises & its appurtenances unto the said WILLIAM MILES, his
heirs & assigns forever. And the said MARTHA TONEY for herself, her
heirs do hereby covenant & agree to & with the said WILLIAM MILES, his
heirs & assigns do warrant & ever defend the right in fee simple in the
said land & premises to the said WILLIAM MILES his heirs & assigns
forever in fee simple from all claims title & demand of herself, her
heirs. Exrs & from the claims of all & every person whatsoever. In
witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the day & date above

This Indenture made & concluded the Twenty fifth day of February Anno
Domini One Thousand Seven hundred & Ninety seven in the Twenty first
year of the Independence of the United States of America between GEORGE
TURNER of Halifax County & State of No. Carolina of the one part & HENRY
WEAVER JUNR. of the County of Northampton & State afs'd of the other
part Witnesseth that the sd. GEO. TURNER for & in consideration of the
sum of One hundred & thirty Eight pounds Sixteen shillings good &
Lawfull money of Virginia to him the said GEORGE TURNER in hand paid by
the said HENRY WEAVER at & before the ensealing & delivery of these
presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge & do acquit the
said HENRY WEAVER of all & every part thereof, have bargained Sold &
delivered & by these presents do bargain sell & deliver unto the said
HENRY WEAVER a certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in the
County of Halifax and State afs'd, vizt, Beginning on the Road on
PTOLOMY POWELL's line thence No. 16 E. 128 po. to a large White oak
thence No. 87 E. 43 po. to a red oak on DANIEL MASON's line thence So.
44 E. 80 po. to a Black Jack thence No. 55 E 58 po. to to white oaks
thence So. 55 E. 48 po. to a large pine on JOS. PARSON's line, thence
along the said PARSON's line to a corner thence So. 25 W. 20 po. thence
So. 30 W. 44 po. to a pine thence So. 24 W. 154 po. to the road, thence
up the said road 146 po. to the Beginning, containing one hundred &
seventy three and half acres to be the same more or less.
To have & to hold the said premises, the said tract or parcel of Land in
fee simple unto the said HENRY WEAVER his heirs or assigns forever,
together with all & every the appertenances thereunto belonging or in
any wise appertaining all & singular soil water or water courses woods
field houses orchards gardens or other improvements to the only proper
use benefit & behoof of him the said HENRY WEAVER, his heirs & assigns
forever & the sd GEORGE TURNER do against himself his heirs Exors. &
administrators & against all & every other person or persons whatever
the said part or parcel of land with the appertenances at all times
defend, and moreover do absolutely warrant & confirms the same with a
good lawfull & uninterupted right & title unto the said HENRY WEAVER his
heirs & assigns forever.

This Indenture made this 20th day of July in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and fifty seven by and between REBECCA TUCKER of
the County of Halifax and State of North Carolina on the one part, and
NATHAN MILLS of the County and State aforesaid of the other part.
Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred
dollars to me in hand paid by the said NATHAN MILLS, I the said REBECCA
TUCKER do hereby acknowledge have given granted bargained and sold the
said NATHAN MILLS a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in
the aforesaid County of Halifax, known a the land formerly owned by
JESSE HAMLET and adjoining the lands of LOUIS SHERRIN, WM. MARSHALL and
others containing by estimation Fifty two acres be the same more or less
to have and to hold the said tract of land and appertenances and the
said REBECCA TUCKER doth covenant and agree to and with the said NATHAN
MILLS and forever warrant and defend the right and title of said land
and premises against myself my heirs &c and the only proper use and
benefit of him the said NATHAN MILLS his heirs and assigns forever. In
witness whereof I the said REBECCA TUCKER have hereunto set my hand and
affixed my seal the day and date above written.
