I noticed the query on John NEWTON, who married Keziah DORSETT. He is an ancestor of mine. In the Alderman genealogical book, only four Newton brothers, who came from Massachusetts in the mid-1750's, were mentioned: Samuel, Jacob, George, and Isaac (my immediate ancestor). I found out about John, the "fifth" brother, only recently. I would appreciate anyone sending me information on John. I have a fairly good handle on the other four brothers.

My MCLEOD/MACLEOD family came into the Cape Fear area ca. 1770 according to family history. The husband was John McLeod, wife Jane. Three children. John left his family to go back to sea. Jane died. On hearing of her death, John died at sea. Two old maid aunts were brought over from Scotland to look after the children. By 1810, one of the children, now a man, was in Marlboro Co., SC. I do not know where they were living when Jane died. Or where she might be buried. If anyone runs across the MCLEOD family in any old land grants or wills, I would appreciate hearing from them. The names again are John & Jane MCLEOD, Daniel MCLEOD, Isabella or Elizabeth MCLEOD (the aunts).Thanks. I can also be reached via snail mail: 5103 Springwood Drive, New Bern,NC 28562.
