BALFOUR/SPRUILL
23 November 1997 FROM khaugan@exis.net (Kathryn Haugan)

CARY ANN BALFOUR (b. 1843, d. 1917?) was born to SARAH SPRUILL (b. 1814?) and BENJAMIN BALFOUR/BELFORE (b. before 1810), who married in Tyrrell Co. in 1838. BENJAMIN is listed in the 1840 census, but is not listed in the 1850 census. JEREMIAH WESCOTT COX, my mother's mother's father, married CARY ANN BALFOUR in Tyrrell Co. in 1864, and they lived in the Scuppernong area until the late 1800's, when they moved to Mann's Harbor. Any information on either SARAH SPRUILL or BENJAMIN BALFOUR would be appreciated.

BALFOUR/SPRUILL
3 April 2007 FROM sbandcb@verizon.net(Sallye Bowen)

I am seeking information on Sarah M. SPRUILL (1815--after 1880), who married Benjamin S. BALFOUR. Sarah BALFOUR appears in the 1860 census at age 45, seamstress, along with her daughter Cary Anne, age 15, and Fanny SPRUILL, age 35, seamstress. [Presumably, Sarah is a widow at this point). Sarah, age 66, appears in the 1880 census, living with daughter Cary Ann [COX] and her husband, Jeremiah COX, age 44, son James B. COX, age 10, and Elvira C. BALFOUR, who is listed as niece to the Coxes. I don't know what the relationship between Fanny SPRUILL is to Sarah BALFOUR, or whose daughter Elvira C. BALFOUR is. Sarah BALFOUR had 3 children: James F. BALFOUR, Charles H. BALFOUR, and Cary Ann BALFOUR. Any help would be appreciated.

BLOUNT
11 February 2006 FROM search4@mac.com(Susan)

My gggrandmother was Molly BLOUNT, married to Enoch HUNSUCKER. Her parents were Wiley Edney BLOUNT (b. 1825 TN)and Mary Ann GOOCH. I believe his parents to be Isaac BLOUNT married to Catherine Lovey JONES. They were both from North Carolina, he was born abt 1781. Family says that Molly had ggguncles that were William BLOUNT and Willie BLOUNT, prominent politicians. Her gggggrandparents would be Jacob BLOUNT and Salter BAKER. I know that Isaac BLOUNT was born in North Carolina and removed to TN in 1815. Because of common names among generations and lack of sourcing, I am unable to link Isaac to the correct set of parents. I believe his parents or grandparents to be children of Salter BAKER and Jacob BLOUNT. I have seen one source that believes he descends from Benjamin BLOUNT, same generation as above, and cousin to those children. Any suggestions, information, sources, points in the right direction would be so appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time.

BRICKHOUSE
17 April 2000 FROM Simzadi@aol.com (Lisa Zajkowski)

I am seeking information on John M. BRICKHOUSE, father of John L. BRICKHOUSE, who married Dolly SAWYER, 1837, in Tyrrell County. I have seen that John M. BRICKHOUSE is a son of Matthew BRICKHOUSE and Priscilla HOWETT, and that he married 1st) Marion LIVERMAN in 1819, and 2nd) Nancy PHELPS in 1829. However, I have seen no proof that John L. BRICKHOUSE, husband of Dolly SAWYER, was a son of John M. I have seen several "family files," in which John L. is shown as a son of John M. & Marion, and others where John L. is not mentioned as a son at all. The census records indicate that John L. BRICKHOUSE was born circa 1816 (prior to the marriage of John M. and Marion in 1819). Does any conclusive evidence exists to prove these relationships? Any assistance appreciated.
