Tyrrell County Militia Paroled by Lord Cornwallis in 1781

The Cornwallis Papers contain a list of 534 paroled North Carolina militiamen that was undated. The date 1781 was later added in pencil. Considering the activities of Cornwallis in North Carolina and the large number of men paroled, it is believed they were captured at the battle of Guilford Court House on March 15, 1782. This information is taken from the North Carolina Genealogical Society Journal, Volume 4, Number 3, August 1978, page 150.
