![]() We are wondering if the Louisa TAFT who married Miles BLOUNT 18 March 1866, and who was born 17 March 1846, could be the Louisa TAFF found in the 1850 Tyrrell Co. Census, dau. of George W. TAFF (b. abt 1819) and Affa M. ?, b. abt 1828. Our great grandmother Louisa Taft BLOUNT lived in St. George, SC. She has many, many great grandchildren, mainly in SC. ![]() Hello! I am Whitney Midgett Tine and my great-great grandfather was John I TAFT. I am not sure, however, that he was actually a TAFT. I have seen some census records that list a person (that I am 99% sure is him) as John ALEXANDER. John ALEXANDER lived in homes with George TAFT (as John ALEXANDER) in 1850(2), Henry ALEXANDER (as John ALEXANDER) in 1860(12), with Valentine SAWYER (as John TAFT) in 1870(22) and as John TAFT in 1880(32) when he was married to Missouri MANN. A few family trees on Ancestry show him as the child of Henry ALEXANDER and Nancy TRAVIS. My family tree has more than one ALEXANDER branch :) so I cannot rule out a father for him from my DNA test.

![]() I have been trying for years to find information about where John and Prudence TARKINGTON came from in England. The information I have suggests that they came here with their three sons, William, John and Samuel in 1668 but I am trying to find information on where in England they are from.
![]() It appears that everyone takes for granted that they descend from 1650 John and Martha, however, 1620 John and Prudence had a son named William (1654.) Perhaps some of us are descended from him. Also, Ms. Tyler Wooley has a John (no one else acknowledges) born 1688 to John and Martha. For these reasons, I keep researching all TARKINTONS, TARKENTONS and TARKINGTONS. In the 1850 Tyrrell Co. Census, there is a Affie TARKINTON and children living with Jesse ARMSTRONG.
