This
Indenture made the seventeenth Day of
April in the year of
our Lord One thousand Seven
Hundred
&
ninety eight between Martin Guash of
Buncombe County & state of
No. Carolina of the one part &
Reubean Johnson of the County &
State aforesaid of the other
part. Witnesseth that for
and in consideration of the sum
of Two Hundred pounds to me in hand
paid by Reubean Johnson at
or before the seeling & Delivery
this presents the receipt
whereof I do hereby
acknowledge& therefore
Doth relese acquit & Discharge the
said Reubean Johnson his
executors & administrators by
thesepresents he the said
Martin Guash hath Granted,
Bargained & sold
alieved & confirmed and by these
presentsdoth Grant,
Bargain, sell, alieve & confirm
unto the said Reubean
Johnson his Heirs a certain peice or
parcel of land situate
Lying & being in the County of
Buncombe & State
aforesaid Containing 640 acres be the
same more or less bounded
as follows lying on french broad
river lying near the Sugar Loaf
mountain Justbelow a verry
sharp bent in the river
beginning at a black oake
then North four Hundred poles to
a black oak on a little mountain
on the North side of the
river then East two Hundred &
fifty-six poles to a stak
in the Bottom then south 400 poles
cross-in the river to a
stake, then west Two Hundred
& fifty-six poles to the
Begining with all Houses
buildings orchards ways
waters water courses profits
Commodities Hereditaments
& appertainences whatsoever
to the said premises belonging or
anywise appertaining &
the reversion & reversions
remainder & remainders
rents Issues profits thereof
& also all the estate
Right Title interest use trust
and profits claim & demand
whatsoever of him the sd.
Martin Guash his Heirs executors
Admrs. of and to the said
premises & all Deeds Evidence
Touching on inanywise
Concerning the same to have & to
hold thesaid Tract or
parcel of Land with all & every
singular the
appertainances thereunto belonging to
him the said Rubean
Johnson his Heirs Exrs. &
Administrators forever
& the said doth Covenant &
agree with the said Rubean
Johnson that he the said Martin Guash
his Heirs &c. are
seised of a good shure perfect and
Indefeseble Estate of
Inheritance in fee simple of and
in the premises hereby
granted & sold & that he
hath full power &
Lawful & absolute authority to
Grant & convey the
same to the said Rubean Johnson
his Heirs Exrs. and
Administrators as aforesaid & he
the said Martin Guash his
Heirs Exrs. Admrs. will forever
warrant & forever Defend
against the Claim or Claims
of all persons whatsoever in
Witness whereof the said
Martin Guash hath hereunto set
his hand & seal the
Day & year above
