The Southern Historical Collection - The Southern Historical Collection (SHC) has developed a large-scale digitization program that is designed to provide online access to entire manuscript collections or to substantial portions of collections.

Geographic Names Information Server - from the United States Geological Survey

Hunter Library at Western Carolina University Hunter Library contains many useful resources including a complete microfilm set of all Revolutionary War Pension files, all Federal Census records for North Carolina, Civil War rosters, and documents connected to the Cherokee.
